Happy Memorial Day
« on: May 28, 2018, 01:47:49 AM »
To those who have served, past and present. I take my hat off to you and salute you one and all. This great country owes our freedom to you, and live comfortfully under the words of our constitution because of you.
My father served in Korea, and I served during the cold war, never threatened and I never thought of myself as put in harms way. My son Aaron did two tours in Iraq and I thank the good lord for letting him coming home safely in one piece.
please think about those who have sacrificed and remember them today while you are Barbecuing and drinking beer.
Our freedoms and liberties exist because of those who have fallen.

Aaron, you are my hero, I love you and this country owes you the gratitude that you and your brothers in arms deserve.

I love you son

Thanks Larry for you, your Dad's, and your son's service and everyone else's great service in our country. My youngest son, and two of my nephews served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and thankfully came home virtually unharmed. Unfortunately, some of their friends suffered terrible injuries, or were KIA. Can't begin to express my gratitude for their sacrifices. Thank all you soldiers past and present for your service!

As a retired veteran I appreciate the Memorial Day replys as I'm sure others do. But let us not forget that Memorial Day is a day of remembrance to the "fallen", Those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. It means a lot to those of us who lost good friends who stood by our side and now are gone. There is Veterans Day and Armed Forces Day that we give a thanks to those who are serving and those who have served but Memorial Day is a solemn time to remember those who gave all , the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation's FREEDOM..........

John while I too have a reverence for what Memorial Day is I hear Larry and all others and understand....all these holidays or memorials get many of us inspired to just say thank you and that is not a bad thing

I am third generation USA military retired.. Dad Retired,, grand pa served..... both died later of combat related cancers

In the three conflicts I attended , Grenada, Panama (Noriega), and Desert Storm our loss and casualty counts were dramatically lower than the WWs, Korea, or Viet Nam... but we did loose guys and gals

I had to go to Iraq as a Dept of the Army Civilian Test Officer and could NOT carry a weapon so my team was escorted every where....our convoy managed to trip an IED and we lost a few of the brave guys escorting US....this day I remember them and weep a bit ...well no actually as I type this I weep a lot...

Ramblings of an old soldier that perfectly understand that Freedom is NOT FREE

Please do NOT thank me for the service...Veterans day for that ----Today remember the guys who saved my team and me

Our wonderful departed military members must be turning in their graves at where this great country is right now.  May our heroes truly rest in peace, and may the proud American attitude return to its rightly place.

Memorial Day is just one of almost every day I think about the good men I lost in Vietnam.  Seems like the older I get, the more I think of them.  Wish I could remember their names.
