Brodak adventures from Rootbeard and PropBuster
« on: June 14, 2007, 08:39:50 PM »
Well today was our first day at Brodaks. No events for me and Ryan today. We were scheduled for Junk Yard wars but they had to push the event due to races running long today. OTS and Races were flown today. Marvin Denny took 3rd in OTS, Mike from Mississippi took 1st. Marvin was in first place but his Guided Whistle had a control failure and he crashed and the wing broke in half. Marvin said he can fix it no problem.

I got to shake a lot of hands today and put faces with names. Ryan met a few other young flyers his own age and they were off running around. One of the young guys has joined our Junk Yard Wars team. Jonathan from Sweden will assist us with our Junker.
In the afternoon we took a tour of the Brodak factory. We got to see how props were made. Man I never knew how much labor it takes to make a prop. Also got to see the laser cutter in action. How tanks are made, and landing gear are cut and bent. We saw how the kits are packed by hand. One thing I did not know, if you ever break any part in a Brodak kit and need a replacement, just call and order it. They have extra parts. We also took a tour of the hobby shop and picked up few odds and ends. It sure was nice to see a hobby shop that is mostly devoted to Control line.
I got to stooge a lot for folks. Marvin broke out his scratched built Bi-Slob and it was amazing to watch him drag the tail on the ground. At the end of the day Ryan got in a nice practice flight with his Tutor.

Here are a few pictures and a link to other pictures.
