Had a bad week
« on: March 13, 2021, 12:40:34 PM »
Guys,

This week got some not so good news that I have a spot of cancer on my bladder and will need additional treatments. So far, I am feeling pretty good and am mobile at home. Next week will start to figure out a course of treatment plan that I hope will be outpatient, we値l see.

Well, for now I知 trying to get things in order in case things go wrong but feel confident we are ahead of it so I値l sign off for now. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Best,    Dennis Toth

Best wishes and good luck.  I have a very faint idea of how one feels in these circumstances. I had six days of being certain I had bladder cancer, before an endoscopy showed the cause of the symptoms - a bladder stone the size of a walnut, that was zapped by laser in due course.
Again, best wishes and the best of luck.

Dennis, my urologist here in Sun City is the chief of urology for Banner Boswell hospital. 10 years ago when he thought he had discovered bladder cancer with me, he told me it was the most curable of all cancers. He did a biopsy, and thankfully thanks to God there was no cancer. But, he has me come in every six months to watch me.

So, hang in there. I am sure you will come through this with flying colors.

The mechanical part of modern medicine is incredible. If they can see it they can remove it.
You can be sure I have my fingers crossed for a full resolution, stay strong, stay positive!

Very sorry to hear that Dennis, but Best Wishes and Prayers to the Almighty Physician for you!  Please believe there are great examples of now cancer-free friends here who know we have great treatments and miracles happen every day!  Your attitude is very important and we all know modelers can figure out a way to get anything done.

Re: Had a bad week - Update

Guys,
Thank you all for your kind words, prayers and encouragement. This week I got an update and it looks like a T2 stage of the common type of cancer, which did not spread beyond the bladder. I feel is positive news. I have consultations set up with bladder cancer specialist to see what options are available. While I'm waiting to get started with formal treatments I am going to do some herbal supplements to fight as hard as possible to be in the best shape possible when starting treatment.

Again, thanks guys you support helps alot.

My heart felt thanks for all the good wishes, encouragement and prayers, it really helps. The pray networks is working. On Thursday the external overflow kidney bag was removed and I went on internal normal plumbing. It felt great and all has been working normal. My appetite and spirts came back and on Saturday I went to the field and put up a short flight with my electric Stuka. Boy did that feel great, looking forward to doing a full OTS flight next time out. This week I will meet with the first of three specialists I plan on talking with to hear their view of the treatment options, then will pick a course of treatment and start.

Again thanks for the support and prayers.

Re: Had a bad week - surgery scheduled
« Reply #15 on: May 15, 2021, 07:33:23 AM »
Ok I have completed all my tests and the PET scan confirmed that the cancer is just in the bladder. Medical Oncologist and Surgent said we can go straight to surgery without the need for Chemo and may not need any afterward. The festivities are set for next Thursday the 20th. Will do the simple removal with external stoma. This is the shortest surgery and quickest recovery with least amount of hassle. They tell me I will be up and walking around same day and home within 5 - 7days. After that several more weeks to fully recover.

Guys, thanks for all the support and prays, I hope to get back out to the flying field in a few months and to the fall KOI contest with a new ship.

Best,   DennisT

ty,
Glad you are C free. Mine got into the muscle so can use the BCG type treatment, also has a squeamish cell differential that doesn't respond well to chemo or radiation treatment. My mistake was not going to the Urologist and getting scoped 10 years ago. If you're over 40 start getting a regular checkup every few years and if you ever see blood or clods in your pee go get checked out.

One thing I found in addition to stunt stuff to pass the time is a site for Old Time Radio (https://archive.org/details/oldtimeradio). This site is free and has an unbelievable number of the old radio shows like Sherlock Homes, Johnny Dollar, Drag Net, Lone Ranger, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the note.
