Hi guys,

 Its the first of the month and I need somemore go juice for my toys. In Fresno, we have to call our local hobby store to see if they have the fuel in stock. I use good old 10/22 GMA, it works great for my engines, including my saito 62. Most r/c fliers don't use this fuel.  I've been burning a gallon and a half each month. I guess the question is how much fuel do you use each month? Most my engine are sixties, some forties. I forget what we have to pay for the fuel, doesn't matter probably would buy it anyway. Around the first of the year the club gets a discount and I only ordered a case, didn't last long. Got to hear them engine run, in the winter usually bench run and set up for flying season. I forgot this is good old CA, so we can fly year around. I would appreciate your input, Gary

Hi guys,

I can't believe no one chimed in, I was hoping that my fuel comsumption was normal. I only fly twice a week, Sunday and Tuesday. Usually only fly three flights each day. The Saito 62 flys for seven and a half minutes on four ounces of fuel. My Enya 60 flys about six minutes on eight ounces of fuel. Both engines live in a Strega size plane, I fly on 60 foot lines. Could use 70 ft lines but I'm use to the lap time which is around 4.6 seconds. Yes! I'm very busy during flight time. A lot of fun and if you don't pay attention could lose a toy. Whenever I get to go and fly I figure on a quart of fuel for the session for myself.  Now when the girls go with me I can easily double that.  Just need the local shop to carry more SIG or Power Master fuel.  DOC Holliday

The only time I think I used a gallon of fuel in a year was when I was helping a young man that lived next door and my son learn to fly. Thats back in 98-99. Here's a photo of them at Sig. My son is the little one.

Between me and my flying partner, we have gone thru a 5 gallon can of methanol, a gallon of castor, and a qt+ of Klotz, plus about 2 qts of nitro. That's a new record for me.

Depending on the schedule for my other life I use from 4 to 7 gallons a summer.  I buy it all at once from Randy Rich when he comes to the Toledo Show in April.  I start out with two cases if I've used most of my stash the year before or adjust my purchase acordingly.

I just came back to flying regularly at the end of May last year.  I bought 3 cases of fuel, expecting they'd hold me over for a year, I ended up ordering another case, and did some conservation and I still think I was a bit short.  Assuming decent weather, and no big problems 16 gallons a year sounds about right.  It'd be much higher but most of my flying is done with small engines that only burn 2-3.5 ounces per flight.

Well, I for one, don't burn enough and it shows.  I used up three gallons last summer and five the year before. Must be slowing down or spilling less. Of course part of that goes to breaking in engines.

I wondering how many fliers use a spill tank. Most r/c flying areas require that you use one. Its a good idea when you have a enclosed type tank. Lots of guys measure the amount of fuel they use to get the proper amount of time in the air. I'm the kinda guy that installs the bigest tank I can squeeze in and fly endurance. If I could fly twenty minutes a flight I would love it, Ha Ha. The heck with points, just keep them in the air. Just kidding, I measure the amount of fuel I use in mine also, just some of the fliers at the field like to fly this way. I like to fly for six minutes, enough time for the pattern and a little fun.
