10 powered JR Rmaster
« on: March 11, 2019, 10:18:51 AM »

I have a OS LA 10 powered Jr RMaster, and want to fly it with fishing lines. The question is what size lines do I need?
What weight, and what pull test would be good. I don't plan to fly in competetion with it, only sport, but I want it to be safe...Thanks

5.3.5.1 Spectra Lines
Lines made of Spectra fiber, made of gel spun ultra-high
molecular weight polyethylene are permitted for sport
flying and demonstration purposes. Spectra lines are not
permitted in competition unless the specific rules for the
event flown expressly permit such use. The use of high
visibility yellow lines is recommended, but not required.
For sport and demonstration flying with two lines, Spectra
lines shall have the following strengths:

Good question, and good chart to save for future reference. Thanks.

       Gil

I regularly fly my Fox 15 Schnuerle powered JR Ringmaster with 50# Spectra lines which measure .012" in diameter. in Massachusetts and Maine we're allowed to use Spectra lines in PA contests.

My to-do list: Contact all the C/L contest board members who voted against the use of Spectra lines and ask if they would explain their objections so we can address them for the next rules cycle. Let's get on with it! Spectra lines, in my opinion, are the best thing that happened to C/L since, ...(fill in the blank). Keith Trostle already explained his 'no' vote in detail here on the forum.
