Title: GSCB New Years day tradition continues.
Post by: Tom Luciano on December 28, 2019, 03:16:08 PM
We will be flying at the Middlesex field. We will be on the pavement and grass circles. I intend on bringing some combat ships.

Hope to see you there!

Mr. Yak,
Glad you saw the notice, it wouldn't be New Years without you! First flight is 11:00, unless Tom posts otherwise.

Thanks Jim, Its the one time I fly all year, so I really look forward to it, that may change soon as I get all settled in my new place as there is a field a few miles from me and the farm operation is starting to wind down. TJ

The GSCB "Tradition" …….
In 1989, Tom Neibuhr mentioned it to me, saying that Larry Scarinzi had started it "years ago".....
I published it in Prop Wash (the GSCB newsletter).
Larry disavowed any knowledge of it.
So we gathered on January 1 1990 anyhow and ate leftover Xmas food and flew....
I have done it every January 1 since
I flew for the first time in 2 1/2 months (severe Vertigo!) and still have the aeroplane!
Dale Josephson, the Smith Brothers and Bill Rich also flew (Bill maidened his new Vector)….

Lots of fun!

Best for 2020!

I'm staying home and warm this year, not meeting the group at Buder Park.  I remember Dale Josephson from the SIG contests in Montezuma, Iowa. He used to always have the hotel room next to mine at he little motor inn in town. If that is the same Dale Josephson, tell him hello from me!
   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I just got home, I wimped out, to windy to try with the .09 on the Buster, I should have left the .15 on it, but it was great to see all the guys just the same! I saw some skilled windy weather flying by some much braver people than me :) Happy New Year Everyone !

We did get out. 39* and wind gusting to 23mph. Stunt heaven! We got some stunt flights and combat wings went up. No casualties! 2020 can officially  start.
We had fun and as TJ said it was good to see the crew!

Happy New Year!
