Grish Brothers Propellers

Does anyone know if Grish Brothers propellers are still being made?  I have not been able to find a source online.

 Grish has been gone for years now. Steve Wilk (Eliminator Props here on the forum) was making carbon replicas of some of them, not sure if he's still doing so.

Thanks guys.  I had not heard anything about them in years and I guess that is why.  Was hoping to find some Black Magnums but guess that will be an exercise in futility now.

I like Zinger props, good wood, and lots of it, to start reshaping for what want. Usually, a bit of undercamber and radius on the leading edge and thin the trailing edge and you have a winner. Careful balance, too.

For electrics, the hub hole is just a hint too big. Just enough to screw up the balance. A wrap of scotch tape on the shaft seems to fix that. Properly set up electrics should have NO vibration.

Sig sells Kavan props that look like the Grish props.  We have them in the yellow plastic and the black reinforced plastic in sizes from 6-4 to 11-8.  Look in the Sig web catalog (www.sigmfg.com) for a listing of sizes.

 Thanks Tony, I didn't know these were out there. They do look just like the old Grish Tornado props. I wonder how stiff they are, and if they're glass or a floppy plastic? Three bladers too?

 ...I just went to the Sig site and took a look, they show the yellow nylon and what they call glass/nylon in black. Looking at Tony's photo I'm guessing even the black ones aren't very rigid. They would still be good beginner or sport props though.

Went through a lot of the old Kavan 6-3 & 6-4  props back in the day with the old OK Cub .049A on the Scientific kits.   Didn't know they were still made.

The black ones are stiff and the yellow ones are more flexible.  I have been using both types on speed limit combat ships and sport stunters and have not had any problems with them.  I don't use the yellow ones on high revving engines (20 K +) but they work just fine for lower revving engines.

Pity Sig does not sell anything bigger then a 10x6 but I have used them successfully on smaller sports models. I really miss those white Tornado's

More of a problem, the pitches are too high for modern (stunt) engines, where 3.5 to 4.5 is more typical. This is where APC has a huge advantage, because of their huge selection of sizes and willingness to support phases of the hobby other than R/C. Show us new Kavan prop sizes!

Regarding the SIG website...I wish it was more user friendly, but just finding "propellers" is much too difficult. I finally did, but by paging through the catalog pdf isn't fun. The index at the end of the catalog pdf doesn't have the word "propeller" under "P" and also doesn't have Kavan under "K". I expect lost sales would result. Whoever does the website needs some directions, IMO.    Steve
