I have put in place a way to stop bogus registrations. Super pain in the neck but its done after a few weeks of playing with this. We shall see how long it takes for them to get around this.

Is any of that done by robot or malicious soft ware of some kind? I just can't imagine someone sitting at a keyboard like I am now and trying to log onto sites, trying to join groups and such just to spread their spam. Who has that much time? I guess if you have nothing better or productive to do. It's a shame it has to done this way.

Dan,
A lot of companies will pay for just such ads (Spam) to be placed.   There are actually people who have made themselves millionaires doing this.
Ever heard of Anthony Morrison!!
One company that comes to mind is Home Depot!  Big Bucks...I'm not picking on them however, most of the big retail chains do the same thing.

True!

Agreed. Telemarketers have infected the Internet and your E-mail inbox.

If you do a little bit every day it will get done, or you can do it tomorrow.

I seem to get financial proposals from Nigeria, offers for cheap Rolex's, and Viagra without prescriptions. Lol

I understand how email spam can proliferate. I have been religious about the sites I visit and join, and what emails I open and links I click on. If I don't recognize am email it gets marked as spam and then deleted from the spam can. Even with AOL as an ISP, I don't seem to have the problems that some people do,  and I'm a computer dummy. I get very few spam emails, and most get caught by AOL and sent to the spam can right off. it's joining groups that I'm curious about. I don't see how that can be automatic, especially if you have to enter details about the subject matter. I belong to several Yahoo groups, and you can get the most recent posts to those sites by email, and a spam virus in your email list can infiltrate that way, but not as a new member. That's one reason why I always go to the specific groups site to check out new posts and don't get them by email. I guess catching the crooks is almost impossible. I have never had any problems on this site and haven't heard of anyone having any, and Robert should be proud of it. It's like any endeavor it shopws how little or how much effort is put into it.
