Great wood score
« on: September 30, 2023, 09:00:48 PM »
Stopped in my local hobby shop today before work. Genuine, old school, real life, hobby shop.  Now and then the owner buys out collections from people who either quit flying or passed away, and sometimes these involve balsa.  Pays to dig through a box!
Bought 16 sheets of wood, all 4"x36".  2 were 3/32 and were high 4 to mid 5lb wood!  14 were 1/16. 2 were low/mid 5lb, the next 11 were scattered throughout the 4lb range, and 3 were mid/upper 3lb!!  Honest to goodness score of contest grade wood!

$77 later......

I believe that’s B&B Hobbies in Spokane, WA.  I dropped in last time I was in Spokane and got some nice wood as well.  They even had a control line kit, maybe a Sig Chipmunk?

B&B Hobbies in Spokane wa.  The last true old school hobby shop for a very long ways in any direction.  Bryan (owner) is probably the most knowledgeable guy you could find to run such a store.  He knows the business like no one else.  There's everything in there  Some CL kits, lots of parts, props, fuel, tanks, wood, electric stuff, etc.  Lots of RC airplane stuff, plus cars, plastic models galore, model railroad stuff, books, etc.

Its worth the stop if only for the nostalgia of it.
