Found another Coasby design - Flicka
« on: January 21, 2021, 02:35:24 PM »
Found this buried under some old paper.
I'm not sure where it came from, possible Mr Trostle.
Anyone know anything about it?
OTS legal?

The Flicka, Published in the 1949 Aeromodeller Annual, Plan No. CL363.  I do not have any more than what is on the plans.  40" span designed by J.W. Coasby.

Bob,
Yes it’s will make a great OTS model, I’ve had the plans for years, it’s on my “Must build list”.  Adding landing gear is not a problem with a former at the wing leading edge and run the gear vertically with a 2” wheels, them add a skid or tail wheel and your good to go.  Power it with a Fox 35 Stunt, there should be plenty of room for a 3 or 4 ounce tank.  Now I wish I had started building it long ago.

Later.,
Mikey

If you don't build from it, you can hang that plan on the wall and admire it! Coasby was the in-house draughtsman for AeroModeller in those days, and all his plans were works of art.
You want to make 'em nice, else you get mad lookin' at 'em!

ETA 29, AMCO 3.5 cc Diesel, Yulon 30.

I have all three - I just have to decide.
Probably this one.

The fuselage resembles His Icarus design plus a canopy. The plans are on Outer Zone along with many others.

If there was a category for OTS planes converted to R/C pylon racers, then I might pull a transmitter out of the mothballs and build that thing. It looks fast!

All good info.
It's definitely on my "to build" list!
I like speed - I have a brand new, never run Dooling 29.
I might put that in it instead of the ETA.
OTS at 85 MPH - sounds like fun.
