Grandpa's Big Job flies!!!
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:40:11 PM »
After having line break 2 weeks before Brodak, grandpa's Big Job was in pieces.  He looked at it, and decided to rebuild it.  The tank had a bunch of leaks in it and the fuse got soaked real quick, so he needed to repair the wing, and just build a new fuse.  The stab was ok and in good shape.  After having a bunch of paint problems with it, and him saying he isn't going to be worried about the weight (which is lighter than the first one).  The plane weighs 51 ounces, and except for the new fuselage, it is the same airplane, same lines, same wing, same stab and elevator, same wheelpants, same motor, and same tank!  Here are some pics of it.

Paul,  There is a little bit by my driveway, but that's it.  We've had so little snow this winter it's fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This is the earliest we've EVER started flying since I've been keeping track last year we flew on St. Patty's day, and the year before that, something like March 28, and the year before that, April fools day, definitely a fool's day, since it snowed the day after

Looks really nice, Big Job's are just cool. Nice paint scheme too, neat, clean, and simple.  y1

Hey Matt,  tell Gramps that the ole DOC says the plane looks great.   Hope he double checks the lines from now on.  It looks like he is happy with it. #^ #^ #^ H^^

What is a normal weight for a Big Job?

The first one weighed 52 ounces and the new one is 51 ounces.  If I remember the article right, Charlie Reeves' weighed something like 53 ounces, so I'm guessing that is the normal weight.
