PA .40 Ultra Lite
« on: January 19, 2018, 10:30:29 AM »
A couple of questions for you guys.
How much does the PA .40 Ultra Lite weigh?
How much does the Ro Jett .40 weigh? ( we’re talking rear exhaust here)

And now for the sixty thousand dollar question.
Do anyone of you happen to have a PA .40 Ultra Lite you would be willing to part with?

Hi Larry,

The RO Jett 40 BSERE (Bar Stock, Rear Exhaust) weighs 8.6 oz on my scale. (I have two of them).

With the header pipe installed it weighs 9.3 oz.

With the header muffler installed it weighs 9.5 oz.

I don't really know how it compares to the PA Ultra Lite but the RO Jett 40 BSERE is a very good running engine and easy to use!  I also have one of the Side exhaust versions and flew it in a Geiseke Nobler for a while and it was a great combo.

I haven't run one on a pipe yet!  Soon I hope!  Dee Rice had one running on a pipe several years ago at VSC and it was impressive.

The SE engine also weighs 8.6 oz but the tube muffler supplied with it brings the weight up to 9.7 oz

Thanks Randy,
I just got off the phone with Jack Comer. He’s boxing one up as I write this.
It’s only been run a few times on the bench so it shouldn’t need rebuilding for a while.

I do need to talk to you about a header and pipe as well as advice on prop and fuel tank size.
I’ll call you Monday

Thanks again Randy
And thank you Jack

Hi Larry:

I have a PA40UL on pipe with a Randy Smith header in my Oriental Plus, and have some info on tanks, props etc. Larry Wong also has one in his full-fuse Imitation on pipe. These are some local ones you could have a look at if you can trudge up to Alameda some Sunday. Larry has a lot more experience with the motor than I do. BTW mine started literally on the first flip when beginning break-in, and then about 20 more first-flip starts to get about 2 hours on it on the bench.

Mike
