You guys amaze me.  That is a beautiful handle.  Mine is plastic.  I see other pictures of pure artwork inside of a wing that will never be seen.  My stuff doesn't look that good on the outside.

I imagine that your stuff looks better to others than it does to you. We tend to see the little flaws in our own work, that others never see.

I recently built a new handle. The old one was pretty heavy (rosewood and aluminum) and so I built one out of a relatively bizarre African wood that's about the same weight as heavy balsa; called toureque wood. The new handle weighs about 6oz. But I'm afraid to post a picture because of the undoubted flak I'll get about getting too carried away.

I'll take one tonight. But no bad comments.   ;D

OK, here it is. Fits my hand very well. Amazing what you can accomplish in an hour with a sanding drum and a rotary grinder.   :)

Note, Bill, I did post a pic of the handle. It's light at least.

You got way too much time on your hands there, Buddy!  **)

Looks really nice!  Do you have different length hard points or are they adjustable?

Yea, in a fit of pique, I made up about 40 of them in 1/16" increments, no less. Sigh... I just never liked the cable handles. Blame The Dirt. He got me doing this.

I couldn't ever think of any bad comments on that handle. Beautiful job. I could probably do the same thing in a week or so if I had a pickup load of lumber. No cables? food for thought. A good example of "form follows function"

Neat handle there, Randy. It looks like a really safe one to fly with. Do you use your left hand to put it in/on your right hand? It seems you would have to really be trying to have a "fly-away" with this handle to lose it. Good design!

Keith,

Well, I've been told that there is a more positive feel with hardpoints as opposed to cables. Could be true, I suppose. I've just had a lot of trouble with cable handles over time. Probably my own fault.

Amazingly, this one is easy to use. No, you don't have to use two hands to pick it up. <grin> You just sort of slide into it. I like it as well as any handle I have. The one thing I do like is, you don't have to grip the thing. It's sort of locked onto your hand so I can keep my hand sort of loose while flying. Seems an advantage. To me, at least.

Didn't mean to upstage the focus of this thread, I do like the cable adjusters on your handle. Seems this would solve the problems I had with cable handles I was always having trouble with the adjusters getting screwed up.

Hey, No problem to me. I like to see other ideas. I blatantly steal the good ones.

Keith,

Hey, theft away.

Wish I could remember where I got the chunk of wood. I've had it for a long time. Sigh...

Keith, I am still working on Cabinets for my wife but I will start the new handle blanks that we talked about soon! I finished restoring the 100+ year old table yesterday so the list is clicking down.
