Post by: Dave_Trible on August 28, 2023, 01:59:50 PM
Charlie Reeves has come for a visit and we flew today at my field.  He flew one of Allen Brickhouse’s Teosawki airplanes and lookin’ good for his 84 years!

I met Charlie Reeves at VSC 20 yrs ago. He is one of the finest Southern gentlemen that I have ever met. I would see him once a year, and it was like we had had not seen each other in a week. I have not seen him in a few years, and it makes me happy to see him out having fun with you, Dave. Go Charlie

Last time I seen Charlie was at the field David is showing.  He must have led a great life as I didn't realize he was older than me. D>K

I was born and raised in Mayfield, Ky, just about 25 miles South of Paducah.  My mom lived in Paducah and I would make the trip home to the Paducah contest occasionally to fly and visit with her.  On one of those trips, Charlie, Allen and I met at the field in Paducah, and I had built a Rayette because I liked Allen's so much.  Allen was flying mine and he had it inverted when the engine quit.  Allen landed it very softly upside down and there was no damage at all to the plane except for the dowel pin that was glued to the top of the rudder and it came off and was in the grass somewhere.  Allen and Charlie and I started looking for it and after about 10 minutes I called off the search but Allen would not give up.  Allen must have spent an hour looking for that silly little dowel pin and I kept telling him to forget it.  Funny how you remember things like that and yet I cannot remember what i had for breakfast yesterday.  That day of flying with Charlie and Allen is just burned into my brain.  I still miss Allen, a lot.

Charlie and I had a thing for Fox 59's, so we always had something to talk about. He is very cool innovator when it comes to building planes. Always friendly.

Good to hear Charlie is still going round and round.
His contests were always fun.
