For my first time at flying competition I had a great time! I would definitely go back to Brodak's Fly-in next year, it is only 1hr away from me so that makes it nice.
I didn't know the pattern back in April, plus my airplanes needed some work to get them ready for Brodak's. Thanks to you guys I learned a lot in a short time, an I hope to learn a lot more! I appreciate all the help!
I entered everything I could for beginner stunt. I placed 2nd in Profile, 2nd in Classic an I got 1st in CLPA! I was excited about that, an I got some nifty plaques to hang up. Brodak's truly is a great place!

SSSSHHHH!!! Quite! Keep it on the down low! Don't spread it around! Control line guys are supposed to be a bunch of arrogant a@%#^$&*#holes that won't help anybody! They look down on you beginners as a pain in the butt! LL~ LL~ LL~
Well now that you got your feet wet. Don't stop there. Attend all the contests you can, even if you don't fly. Help out all you can, and learn how to judge properly and help out that way, Many of today's best judges will tell you that judging helped their own flying quite a bit. This is what it's all about, and it isn't exclusive to Brodaks. The SIG contest was the same way and I miss it intensely. I get a contest flyer from the Olsen family up in the Dakotas for their big contest every year and would like to make that someday along with Brodaks before he closes up shop.
And now that you have one under your belt, you will have to admit that it's all about the people, more so than winning a plaque, isn't it? Get around to some of the other meets and you'll make friends that you'll have for life.
Glad you had a good time !
Type at you later,

Congratulations! Good to hear that you had a good time.
On a sad note, I noticed Rex Abbott's name on the scoreboard. I reckon he's flying better now, and his planes are lighter, straighter, better trimmed, and get 20 appearance points now. He passed away of a heart attack early this Spring, but apparently had already entered the Brodak Fly-In. :( Steve

I'm sorry to hear about Rex! Was he a friend of yours?

Chris;
It was only 6.5 points. I was sweating bullets especially after my very krappy second flight.
Anyways, I replyed to your e-mail
