This would be a very long list, and yes, Dan is one of them. Most of us here could go on and on about Good Guys you find here.

One of my favorite things about here and Stuka Stunt is what I call the "gentleman's agreement" way of handling most things. It's not too many places anymore where people send or ship things to each other on each others trusted word regarding payment. I've only ever dealt with one person on this forum, who is also on Stuka Stunt, who isn't a good guy. He's managed to prove it beyond any doubt, multiple times. I should have figured him out the first time. Don't worry Texan's, I don't hold it against all of you.

Good guy, bad guy. There are some of each, mostly good. One thing I know is you must send stuff with delivery conformation because some guys are thieves. Even when the personal mail delivery person I spoke to confirmed that an item was delivered the offending person denied it. I wonder why the offending person has stopped looking for the item just like OJ stopped looking for the murderer. NUFF SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Good Guy List , would indeed, be a very long list.
However, I have seen numerous bits of bad advice given on these forums by well intentioned individuals. I would not place those sorts on a bad guy list, as I'm sure they mean well.
I know a lot of the people who post on here and I have learned who to take advice from and who to take with a grain of salt.

Didn't take long for him to surface here either. And as typical for the individual, his information on the particular subject is totally inaccurate. For some unknown reason he cannot admit it to himself that he can make a mistake and insists on painting someone else as the bad guy, which in this case he chose me. I wish I could tell the true and correct story here so that the rest of you would know, but it would be bending the forum rules. I do apologize for messing up the thread a bit, but I really don't appreciate being called a thief. It's tough to not strike back at that.

All I can say to all the "Good Guys" is that there is definitely one person here to watch out for. Sad, but true.

Well I'm too new here to have much experience with dealings here but I can say that Howard Rush, without me asking or him even knowing me, sent me some eyelets I was in need of out of the goodness of his heart. He tried to convince me that he's bad but I refuse to believe it! Howard is a good guy in my book.

The early Stunt Hangar Forum had a "Karma" feature----sorta like the Good Guy List, I guess. As I recall, this feature was sometimes "abused", so it was deleated.

All of us have had experiences with other modelers that have not been completely satisfactory; some times there are reasonable explainations, some times not. Most times, we don't know all that is going on in the life of others, so we reach a conclusion that may not be totally accurate.

Personally, I want to be 100% certain that malice was intended before forming an opinion that some one is less than a Good Guy. But, when I am 100% sure, I will tell the world the whole truth. But not on a public forum.........

Yes Howard is definitely on the "Good Guy List". And if there was a "Smart Ass" list Howard would rank number two.

Making the Bad Boy list is very easy!! Only takes one proven offense!! IMHO........

I sold an engine to a forum member last June; it was sent insured with delivery conformation. The US post office told me that it had been delivered june 26. In reality. it hadn't. During the next 3 months, he filed an insurance claim ( which the uspo denied) and I filed an insurance claim ( that the uspo denied)

I was really feeling bad because of this situation.

Finally, 3 1/2 months later, the engine showed up on the doorstep. The post office never said a word, and I have no idea what happened.

It does look like that if could happen once, it could happen again. So perhaps your bad guy is actually not.

I'll have to chime in about Howard Rush being a Good Guy. When I was in the hospital last fall, whining about the rotten touchpad and Windows 7 on my laptop, Howard actually sent me a nice little wireless mouse, which I'm still using..

When I run into or have forum posts from good guys I let everyone know. Now there are a couple that I have sent PM's to individuals to give up and don't argue with a person or two. Yes there are some that never have anything positive to say about someone, a design, an engine or about what is being posted. Yes I have even PM's the offending individuals and I have received a few PM's from individuals and administrators.

I am the guy that De Hill sold the missing engine to! It caused me quite a bit of grief. I was very bothered that De would be thinking I was some sort of rogue. Luckily for me, De is a super chap and didn't think that. As De said, the engine turned up after 3 months or so. Around the same period, Randy Smith sent my OS40VF and some laser cut ribs and I think a plan. Blow me if that didn't do the very same thing! It eventually turned up months later. The PO said that it had been delivered and signed for!
So be a little careful, both De and Randy could have made out I was a bad guy. I have no idea where those two parcels had got to when they went walkabout. I have never had an experience like it and then two together .................My reputation could be trash. Thank you De and Randy for keeping the faith........I really appreciate it.

I have always felt that everyone I have met, that are involved in CL, are good guys. Even the ones that gave a first impression as being a jackass, turned out to be good guys! I find it hard to catagorize people anyway. You're all ok in my book of good guys!

(no known relation, BTW, no matter what Richard may claim

).

The very day after Richard said he would send a replacement, the package turned up-------couldn't have been the phone call I made to my local post office (think Hooterville post office) a day or two earlier, could it

Richard was pleased when I told him to cancel the replacement......

Even worse, De included a few extra items (That shows what a great chap he is!), they included a couple of props that belonged to JC Yates. they were even more valuable to me than the Orwick!
I still don't have a clue as to where De and Randy's parcels got to over the missing months. When they eventually turned up, I was very happy, but I still felt that people might think I was some sort of scam merchant. Thanks to this thread, I can air my feelings and reiterate that I am an honest guy....I still feel that I could be looked on as dodgy and that is a very unpleasant feeling, I can tell you.

Yep Bad Guy list would be much smaller but not everyone would agree with whoever put a name on the list.

My bad guy (who many take up for) lied to me knowing exactly what he was doing when he did it. Didn't loose anything other than shipping charges, mostly upset at the chicken $$it way he handled the ordeal and the flat out lie.

And ya, Ding-a-ling if you see this, I haven't forgotten nor will I ever.

Randy Ryan is a good guy. I have sent him engines for a trade, and never had to worry that I would get the ones he was going to send to me. People like that are hard to find in this day and age, but there are many here. For the most part, control line guys are the best.

I too have had a few things M.I.A using USPS. I think it was Bill Sawyer that I ordered a canopy from for my Akrobat project. It never showed. He was a good guy cause he sent me another one free of charge.

Also I was looking for a OS tube muffler for a OS LA 40, and David Shad, (also a good guy) shipped me one for free. It never did show up.

I would rather pay extra for Fedx then use the USPS. Sometimes when I order stuff from Tower it starts out UPS then transfers over to USPS. And now that I think of it, one of my Tower orders got lost by the USPS. Tower did reship my order.

So my bad guy list is the USPS!

For what it's worth, I ship some pretty expensive instruments all over, so when I had some really bad experience with UPS with a different product, I started shipping via USPS. It was cheaper by a couple of bucks, easier to access in my little jerk-water city, and I had nothing but good results. HOWEVER, (you knew there would be a "however" didn't you?) when I mentioned this to the local USPS clerk, she smiled all-so-sweetly and told me it all ended up with UPS any way!!! Popped my balloon!

I agree that 99.9% of guys(and gals) on this forum are"Good Guys". I have got good advice and not so good advice when asking for help or opinions. This hobby is alot different than my previous hobby(racing RC cars). In that hobby there was no shared info on setups other than you need to buy the latest and greatest to keep up. C/L is a great hobby because you have many different avenues(stunt, combat, racing ,speed and scale, etc), but everyone shares tech advice to further someone elses enjoyment.
So i thank everyone who has given or will give me their advice or opinion .

Now I ask you to tell me who the Good Guy is? Rusty invited our group to come up to his field in Fort Pierce and fly with him. The day came and we all went up there. After flying we all had lunch with Rusty. We all sat under this big oak tree and had Hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixens. Rusty refused to accept a donation from us. This just goes to show you who the real Good Guy is here on the treasure coast. We will all be getting together again soon. Thanks Rusty.

Will, now when I went to USPS to ship some engines, I told the clerk that I had just came from UPS. Had just put some plane kits in their hands. She laughed and said, "Yes they will be coming over to load them into our distribution truck later". I just looked at her as I know the size of our UPS distribution center.

Now for good guys I can't remember all the names of the modelers I have met traveling and/or competing across this great land of ours. Even those from out side our borders.

Just a suggestion Andrew.... Ask whoever is shipping to you in the UK to add Great Britain England/ Scotland/ Wales to the shipping label as well as UK.

The US postal service have on occasion in my experience not understood UK on it own. When i used to live in the UK my packages ended up going via UAE. A very different part of the planet......

Both the parcels that went walkabout were sent to an address in Cambridge Ma, not to the UK. Just glad they eventually turned up, but could have done without the angst!
