Going to PDX, Have FS ARF will Travel
« on: August 17, 2008, 08:14:16 PM »
My company is giving me a paid 4 week vacation in the Portland Area for most of Sept.  All I have to do is spend anywhere from 6-16 hrs a day inside a factory installing equipment.
I have a Flite Streak ARF I plan to assemble in my hotel room, and hope to get a chance to do some flying if they take the shackles off long enough. Current AMA - looking for a place and friendly folks to graciously smile at my attempts to fly.

Any info appreciated,
Bill Heher

Bill,
There are a great bunch of folks that fly out at Delta Park.

I think they are there a few days a week and maybe weekends.

I'm flying into SeaTac Friday Sept 5 where I and a few family members will be moving Mom from Tacoma into an assisted care facility in Gresham, OR.  I'll be there most of Saturday and Sunday.  It'd be nice to know where everyone will be on Sunday.  Is Jim Cameron still kicking around?

I fly back to the Twin Cities very early Monday.

Thanks for the great response, I'll contact you guys when I roll in.
Is there a place to buy a Flite Streak ARF in the area? I checked and it will cost almost as much to ship mine Fed-Ex as it would buy one from Tower. I can put an engine / lines etc in my luggage, but the FS box is considered oversize for carry-on, and I wouldn't give it a 25% chance of survival if I tried to check it as luggage, not to mention the 25$ for a 2nd piece of luggage.

I want to put one together and drive down to the contest, in any case I will be at the contest- plane or no plane.

Oh yeah- the plane ( if it survives the month) will have to stay behind- a donation for teaching new comers.

Contact one of the local guys.  They just might let you use their number one ship.  Show up at the contest and would bet you would lots of offers to fly a plane that is local.  DOC Holliday
