We all make new years resolutions. But i decided to make goals. And thats to confidently learn every maneuver of the beginner pattern and fly in more contests this year. Also to improve on my building skills. Whats your goals or resolutions for 2014?
-
Hey Andrew
It's great to set goals. Stay focused and burn lots of fuel. I have no doubt you will make it and Allen would be proud.
Just Do It!!!
I resolve to meet more new CL people and have way too much fun. And to laugh more.
-
I don't do resolutions and seldom make goals. But, the lady therapist said I was her best patient. I told her I hope to fly slow combat against the kids in the Topeka KS Memorial Day weekend contest. #^
-
Hey Andrew, I'm with you. I'll set that goal with you. I want to learn the whole beginner pattern this year and compete in the local contests. I also want to stomp my boys in one beginner stunt contest this year. VD~
-
My goal is to restart my "normal" flying routine of frequent and intense practice, then click myself back up to Expert.
-
My goal is to get one kid interested model airplanes.
-
Great goal for us all Steve.
-
Move up from 1/2a to bigger planes, get involved with my local CL club, learn the beginner pattern, maybe compete.

Excellent thread Andrew. Kudos!
2014 Goals:
Contribute to the club newsletter,
Start learning how to judge, (any clinics/classes in or around SoCal?)
Help out more at the contests/events,
Get my daughter back in the circle more,
Get my son in the circle for the first time,
Build something or at least start building something,
Get off my rear and cull-edit-upload the last several months worth of photos,
Come up with a snappy signature for forum posts,
Fulfill some promises left over from 2013,
And if there's any 2014 left over, maybe I'll get in a flight or two myself,
Start learning the beginner pattern,
There's a beginner pattern?
Happy 2014 all!

My CL goal this year is to claw my way toward the top of the pile in event 325 (advanced) here in the Pacific Northwest, and to support Howard's trip to Poland, no matter how many limericks I must compose.
I'm still waiting to see whether I'll start topping out at my current level of effort, so I'm not going to post any brave words associated with event 326 here -- that's a hope, not a goal!

I intend to finally finish my Yak-9 and get a new Skyray built for the May contest. Meanwhile move up from Intermediate to Beginner, not likely in time for May, but necessary for October. Winning Beginner on my next(second) try is a goal I really want. Start building my first full fuse model, a kit Oriental. And finish a couple of fun 1/2A builds, including a speed plane and a Tee Dee .09 sized self design. And FLY... a lot... all while not making a hobby widow of my wife.

Great ideas everyone, my goal is to put together as many planes as i can before my wife finds out how much it costs to have fun with model airplanes. I keep telling her the kits are only $30.00 and the motors are $40.00. I hope she never finds my second Visa card. If she gets to mad I'll just give her $200.00 and send her to the Casino for the day. That's got me out of the doghouse more than once.

Finish the 2X-S-1 Ringmaster. ;D
-
My goal is to retire near Dallas Texas and enjoy life!
-
I sincerely hope not to offend anyone this year and to try and re-connect to several I have insulted in the past. I also hope to get my 2.4 Carrier planes minor problems ironed out. Finally, if Ginny can get her health back I want to show her off at the Brodak Fly-In.

One more: Recruitment! ;D
-
This year, after much promising in the past, I plan to return to competition flying and to up my game.
I have a plan:-
- Rebuild profile Oriental with Brodak B40 for P40 competition - done
- Build a TEOSAWKI - just needs covering and a tank making
- Rebuild 2 Super Tigre G51s to last best status - in hand & should be finished by the end of the week
- Make the new design adjustable venturies for both Super Tigres and the La 46 - mostly made just the milling to be done
- Checkover the Mo-Best I competed with in 2009 and fit rebuilt G51 - in hand
- Make a new slightly larger tank (125cc) for the Mo-Best - CAD work done, metal still to be cut
- Make improved fuel filtering tools - in hand
- Order new fuel constituents (methanol and castor) - done - collect on Friday
- Finish original Oriental (August 1957) for vintage competitions where SAM rules apply - it just needs covering and painting
- Finish OK Super 60 powered Viking for BMFA rules vintage competitions
- Practice!!!!!
I do have most of this in hand.
I have joined a second model club that will enable me to fly controline during the week, even during the football season.
-
I will do what I can to promote World Peace.
A good place to start is right here in Robert's great Forum.
Also. I have three new models to get done for 2014, not sure of the order.
1) My first mean, full blown, stunt machine. Electric.
2) Gee Bee R-3. Electric
3) The International. IC or Electric, undecided?
The Flite Streak, The New American and the Mig-3 will just fall into place somewhere along the line.
-
Finish the Flite Streak and get to flying so you can fly the others when and if they get done. S?P
-
1. Get my current projects finished, that will be easily done if I just get back to them.
2. Return to actually flying, get in as much practice as much as possible so that I can enter a contest again. (means I will finally be forced to use a stooge a lot, and drive some distance to get some "coaching")
3. Finally get my Grandson's trainer finished and flying. He has an interest in this hobby and is a really smart kid.
4. Deal positively with any cancer may be returning based on my biopsy from yesterday........

Big Bear, get your grand son over to your place so he can help you with that trainer. Once he learns to fly it, he can then be your test pilot or like my grand daughter is the pilot on the planes I have engines that need breaking in. She is my helper also when not playing sports. Right now she is taking care of a torn ligament in her ankle that happened during basketball practice.

Hi Doc,
The Grandson has been in on all the building of his plane. It is ready for sealing and finish. OS .15LA on an Enterprise Sure Thing. (first model I did as loop with!) I let him pick the engine and of course he went with the BLUE one! LOL!!

I will continue my mathematical proof regarding the origin of The Universe. (almost finished)

John Stiles that is a huge ringmaster!! What engine are you putting on that ?
-
My goal is to beat my buddy Bob Whitely in a stunt contest!!!
Hey, Nobody said a goal has to be realistic...HUH! LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~
Randy Cuberly
PS: Only kidding Bob!
-
Finish the 2X-S-1 Ringmaster.
(http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=33824.0;attach=139912;image) ;D
John, that wing is large enough with enough wing ribs to be a Venetian blind! ;D
Seriously, that is going to be a really nice flier and a good flier with a little more wind than the Ringmaster S-1 cares to handle. You'll have to include a flight video of it along with photos after your build, and photos of any little buddies in your household that help you to start, launch or retrieve it!
Regarding my goal, I'd say is whatever I do, it would be in the best interest of others, not only mine in what I do.
Doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others. Philippians 2:3-4 (WEB)
