GMA 10/22 Fuel Dallas

Where in the Dallas TX area, can I purchase Powermaster 10/22 fuel. I need at least a gallon to test a new motor.

At one time, Roy's Hobby Shop in Hurst stocked Powermaster/GMA.  I have not checked on that for a while as I now make my own home brew.

Be careful with this fuel.  I have a gallon of the Powermaster/GMA 5%.  It is purple in color and it stains the finish.  I can see streaks on the light colored areas.  Maybe the formulation has changed since I bought that gallon.  So, I can only use it in older planes where I do not care that much about how the finish looks.

Avenger has some coloration on the bottom of the wing where the exhaust runs across,, very dissapointing,,

I talked to the company, they are supposed to be makingit without the dye now from what I hear

I can confirm that Powermaster GMA is no longer purple. They removed the dye earlier this year so  any found on the shelves is old stock which should be gone by now. I bought a case last month, all clear.

Go online to Powermaster Fuels and order what you want.   Many different types listed.

Just checked the site again and they show a bunch of hobby shops in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

I've been using 10/22 exclusively for the last few years; there was one deep purple run after which the fuel has been perfectly clear.

I think they had an accident measuring the dye: I know that when it happened they changed the formula from "supposed to be light pink" to "it's entirely clear, we promise!".

   Near as I was able to determine, it was on purpose. They ran out of red, so they picked something else. They tested it for staining, and no stains. On Monokote.

Brett as an aside, I got to see this BB20 whatever,( don't know the initials) setup of yours fly at a ranch 25 miles outside of the Oklahoma border. Wasn't sure what all the hoopla was about but know I see. Prettttty impressive.

I was having it pretty good with the home brew myself. Ex combat flyer and multiple Nat's champ was making my fuel. Life was good!! But, I just relocated and I have to try to bring my program in line with the store brought stuff.

There is a race/speed shop on Kennedale Pkwy (Kennedale) that sells methanol for $3.50 a gallon.  They may have nitro as well but I had already bought some ($25/gal) from another place in Grandview.  I hope Sig continues to sell the Klotz and castor.  With shipping, a gallon of each came to about $44 the last time I ordered.  That same oil is about $15 to $16 a quart in motorcycle shops and other places.

That works out to $14.46 a gallon for home-brewed fuel.  Powermaster is less, if you're not paying hazmat fees.

Powermaster that I have seen in hobby shops in DFW is going for about $18 a gallon.  Other brands are $20 or more and I still have to add oil to the other brands.  So, my cost is even more than $20/gallon.

So it works out well for you.  There's a go-kart track about 30 miles from here; I keep meaning to head over there and see what all sorts of fuel ingredients they have for sale.

Powermaster no longer producing the GMA 10-29  or 5-29. If anyone has contacts with them, perhaps they can get them to produce again? Maybe in a,special run, limited quantities once or twice during the year?

The "Airplane" fuel is 10% nitro and 20% oil...

   I think the real goal was to replicate "RO-Jett" blend, which is discontinued. It permits, generally, much steadier running than GMA or the RC Sport fuel.

While we are talking about fuel. Many have disagreed, but the most consistent and best performing fuel for the Fox .35 was Testors 39.

Does anyone know what the formula was?
