I just looked for plugs, either GloDevil rc idle bar or Thunderbolts.
McDaniles and Mikegoesflying show out of stock. What is everyone doing for plugs? GloDevil price now $12.95 each.

Get on the Sonic Tronics website and sign uyp fr their email alerts. They usually have a big sale at Christmas time, sometimes at this time of year, and it's a big savings. I have always bought some whether I have needed them or not, so I'm stocked up on Glow Devils. I wonder what's driving that price up??

Dan,

Iridium is in demand, based on the price chart below.  My understanding is that this is the plating on elements, and that it is a catalyst.

I'm running Fireball hots. I  heard some people had seal leaks with them but it hasn't happened to me. I only run low nitro with all castor and no race engines.

I normally buy from "Mike Goes Flying" but if he's out, sig shows long idle bar. long tuned pipe, and long four stoke all in stock. Maybe Randy has some in stock?

For some time now MECOA has had a notice on their website (pic attached) that Rhodium is the culprit, that it has gone from $2400.00 per ounce to $29,800 over a 14 month period (but when that period started or ended is unclear).

Also attached is a pic of the website MECOA provides for a Rhodium value reference.

" I'm running Fireball hots. I  heard some people had seal leaks with them ".

This was generally from wrenching the centerpost , with a crocodile glow clip , or mauling it fitting a clip in say a enclosed B T/R , as the ceramic was brittle - rather than weak .

Back in the 70s for team race , aryldite applied with a toothpick or match , around the bottom of the post through to the plug body , was a common ' fix ' , so it wouldnt blow out .

Dunno but assume if you didnt knock / abuse the post , they wouldnt play up . Taipan glow pkugs look the same  , any differance in construction . ?
