Glow driver terminal ?
« on: July 12, 2011, 01:26:20 PM »
Hi ,

I have an RCATS Lithium glow driver and was wondering what the correct term (or name) is , for the terminal/plug that fits into the glow driver clip of this unit ?

The wire(s) that connect to the power pack are hard wire in and the wires run to a skirted style of single pin jack (kind of like an RCA jack).

I'm wanting to get a female jack to convert an old Cox glow clip to the RCATS glow driver power pack.

Thanks ,

Rob K.

maybe a picture of what your talking about?
my Rcats unit was hardwired to the glow clip from the unit. I inserted a Deans connector inline after the wires failed at the unit where they go through the plastic case. I also took advantage of the Deans to allow using different glow plug connectors. I use a different style glow plug clip for pylon racing than I do for stunt.
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!

Hi Mark ,

I'd like to get a female connector (plug), of the pictured type , to convert to a Cox style glow clip. I'd just wire the glow clip to the female plug (adapter).

Here's the photo you asked for ...

It looks like a heavy duty RCA plug.  Get 'em at the Rat Shack (in the US).

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I hadn't heard about "The Source", so Googled both Radio Sack (sic) and "The Source".  Looks to me like Radio Shack still is. "The Source" is a bunch of other stuff, such as a magazine about hip-hop music and a restaurant owned by Wolfgang Puck. But it doesn't seem to be a new name for Radio Shack. Google could be wrong, I suppose.

Sorry Steve:  It appears that all Radio Shack stores that have been renamed "The Source" are in Canadian locations. I guess you Americans will have to continue to deal with Radio Shack. Keith

Remote glow plug kits use a dummy glo plug with leads that could be wired to your other glow clip. Can't remember who made the ones I have, but they were only about 4$, I think Hanger 9 makes one.

Hi ,

Brett hit the nail on the head , about Radio Shack ...

I found what I was looking for , from Allied Electronics

Connector; RCA Jack; Die Cast Zinc Alloy; Gold Plated Brass; 1; 6.0 mm

Fits the RCATS terminal , perfectly .

Thanks everyone ,
