Gladiator with Masking off
« on: May 04, 2013, 08:56:07 PM »
Well, loads of time now getting that garbage tape off and most of the left behind glue. Still finding sticky spots as I feather the trim edges. Not looking as good as I usually manage, but I am not stopping, the small defects will just remain and if you ever see the airplane in person, you can look for them, I won't point them out! Anyway. I do have a couple minor areas to touch up, then shoot the black on the nose, graphics decals that clear, I really want to be ready to fly in a couple weeks. The close up is wet, I am feathering the metallic with 2000 grit paper, is seem to be OK as long I keep it light!

Brother Ryan,

What will you using to clear coat everything?   Looks like you are off to a fine start.

What's the power train?

Thanks!
Bill

Just as a guess it looks like base-clear auto paint.

Brother Bill, Stalker .51 on tube muffler. This is the same engine I had in it before and its a great combination. 720 squares at 58 oz, I expect to be I touch heavier this time around and I don't think it with hurt a thing. So far this is all Duplicolor rattle can and I'm pleased, have some black trim to go then clear. I'm going to be using KSB Diamond Coat clear. I've heard great things about it and my test pieces even brushed look good. Really want to get it in clear by next weekend.

This is the airplane in my avatar, it was all Brodak candies before and faded out flat the first season, made me sick.

Getting closer to clear!!! Nose trim on. I still have decals I made from the first time so the rest of the trim will go quickly. Still have to finish feathering the edges and airbrush some clear over them and have a couple touchups to do on the red. I'm really liking the colors I picked, crimson and I wanted the sort of sinister blood color, you know Gladiator. The "anti glare" panel is metallic black and when this thing is cleared I think its just pop!!
