Rub it in Garf,  in the teens of a morning and high 20's by afternoon.  Time I get all the gear on it don't seem that cold for about the first 50 minutes.   It the last 10 minutes when all the youngsters are in the class room it gets a little rough.  Good time to practice pattern to keep blood circulating.  Its only the ones that are late wonder what I am doing.

According to the thermostat on the side of my garage, it was 18° at 6:15am. In Tacoma now at about a quarter to two it's a balmy 28° with winds out of the NE at 15mph with gusts to 25. Feels like 10°, I'm told.

Oakland, California 29 degrees and snow in the back yard 7:30 am.  Went to the closet to find my skis and realized I don't have any plus I don't ski very good so I just got a cup of coffee and looked at the snow!
Still slushy ice on the deck at 2:00 pm.

WHAT THE  VD~ELL HAS HAPPENED TO GOBBLE-GLOBAL-WARMING?

One of my friend's father said he had one winter where it didn't snow more than a dusting and that's up here in snowy cold, in the middle of nowhere Vermont, and did they worry about global warming then, no!  It's all politics...

20 F this morning in Edmonds at 5:30 AM when I went to work. I have a pan heater on my diesel and it was barely up to the task. The block heater I bought last month is still sitting in its box.

22F here, warm by Matt's Vermont standards.  I did have to do a little torch work on the pipes at 3:00 this morning, but they're drained now and ready for winter.  I was hoping to wash the Christmas tree before bringing it in, but it looks like It's coming in as-is.

Well on the road here in Beautiful Downtown Dyersville Iowa (Super 8) it's 26 above but tomarrow they predict 6-12" of snow and 25-40 mph winds just to keep it from settleing in one spot to long. Hope I can make it home but if I can't I can always visit the "Field of Dreams" movie site .  n~ n~ :##  Almost forgot the farm toy museum is here also.

Ahhhh the memories...Collins Iowa....a few miles NE of DesMoines...in 1956 we had two weeks of -25 to 35 below 0. We burnt coal..in a pot belly stove and used dipstip heaters. I will never forget just how frightening it became afterwards...with a huge ICE STORM that came in for the kill, just as the temp began to raise above 32.
The town water tower was down and out for over a month....fun stuff.

It's funny. I used to do fine in the snow in Idaho. 10° with a foot of snow and while cold, it seemed manageable. Since moving to the Puget Sound area, I find the cold harder to take (14°F at my place this morning). I suppose it's the fact that in Idaho when it was 10°, the humidity was very low. Maybe 10-15% at most. Often lower. Here in Tacoma I just checked the little weather widget. 16° with 70% humidity.

It's not the temp so much as the amount of cold water in the air.

Flying is not fun in this weather (alcohol stings your fingers a bit) and I find it hard to get snowmobile mitts thru the handle for a good grip  n~

Well I'm about 60 miles west of Randy in the middle of the mitten, and I have been doing everything I know to PREVENT the 8"-12" of snow we are supposed to get over the next couple days:

* I put 280 lbs of sand bags in the pick-em-up truck

* I went out and got gas for the truck & for the snow blower and mixed with oil

* I gassed up the blower and got it started and running for about 5 minutes so it will start easier when I need it...

Failure to do any of the above would guran-durn-tee a blizzard  :X, so I have done what I can to prevent it..!  LL~  LL~  LL~

Shultzie's Bird water fountain this morn in sunny 27 degree Gig Haaaaba,Wa.

Above or below?  We'll wake up in the Twin Cities to possibly 6-9" of snow, fierce winds (near blizzard conditions) and temps (air, not wind chill) will drop to -5 (making the wind chill feel like -25) over the next few days.

Cheers,
Steve (former Gig Haaaba resident)

Got our first "storm" of the year, dumped about 3-5 inches of snow in our area, and now we got freezing rain.

How did you guys in the midwest handle the blizzard you got???

I'm not a cold person, but once January comes around, and we typically get a cold spell for about 2 weeks.  Those two weeks are HORRIBLE, with highs that are typically -10!!!  Right now it is around freezing, which is my kind of temp for winter.  Can't stand the cold.

It was 66 here yesterday just east of Charlotte. The winds were up to 50MPH. I had a large tree come down last night and one came down last week. The one last week did a glancing blow of my workshop but didn't do much damage. It was so warm here yesterday I had the house back door open all afternoon. A hornet flew in but I could not local him until I put my shoe on and he stung me right in the arch of my foot. ~^ ~^ I have been stung many times but none of them hurt like this did. The pain and swelling was so bad I considered going to the hospital emergency.  I didn't go and it is better today and I can hobble around on it. The weather here is not going to be anygood for flying for at least a week.

SOCAL low desert this AM is in the high 30s, gets up to 60-70- 80 during the day in the sun.  I've even had to wear a jacket outside the last couple of days.  We had rain the other day, a couple of inches.

One of my neighbors is from Chicago.  He says he turns on WGN every now and then to watch the weather and chuckle!  I moved out here from the East coast in 1962 to get away from the miserable weather and humidity and I am glad I did!
