Gieseke Nobler
« on: July 12, 2018, 09:50:20 PM »
I posted a couple of months back that I will be building a Gieseke Nobler as a tribute to the Late Great Bob Gieseke.
Here she is, framed up with three coats of dope.
34.5 oz with motor, prop, spinner, muffler, tank and wheels.

I want to thank Elliot Scott and Jim Hoffman for their contributions to the project.

Should be a hum-dinger , being the usual standard . The ' gotta builda Gieske Nobler ' Grip
comes each time we see one . A nice one , anyway .

As Gordon pointed out, its set up with an AeroTiger .36
should be a great matchup in a Nobler. They sure work great in my Thunderbird.

MY last Gieseke Nobler had a AeroTiger in it and weighed 38 oz.  Great set up!  10.5-4.25 Phelps carbon prop!  I'll send you one of the Phelps Props, if you need it!

Can you post a picture of a Phelps prop?
I’ve been using the Mejlek(?) props on my AeroTigers but I’m always open to experiment

Hmmmm...Well I can try!  Top one is finished a balanced...bottom is just out of mold still in flash!

This is considered THE Aero Tiger prop by a lot of folks "around here"...to include Me, Mr. RJ Whitely, and of course Mr. G. Phelps!

Not apparent from picture of course is prop has slight under camber!

Larry,
Attached is a picture of my last Gieseke Nobler at VSC several years ago.  That's also a Phelps Prop.

You'll notice, of course that i's not as nicely finished as yours will be but it was built and finished in just two weeks to replace another airplane that was lost!

Light and straight it flew very well.
