Title: Gieseke's Bear
Post by: JHildreth on March 27, 2018, 06:44:00 PM
I was visiting with Mike Scott a week ago, discussing some issues with my FW 190 project.  While I was there I asked if I might take some pictures of Bob Gieseke’s Bear that Mike has.  I started building a Bear a few years ago, before I got side-tracked with the FW build, and I wanted some photos of various aspects of the plane to guide my construction when I get back to it.  Mike suggested that I post some of the photo’s on the forum.  By the lettering on the vertical stab, this is Bob’s ship built in 2001.

Wow, thanks for the pictures of Bob's model. I have a Bear kit and a brand new Stalker .61LS for it.

I have seen one of Bob's other Bears, I believe Doug Moon has it.  On that model, instead of two straight surfaces on the rear of the cowl, Bob made a continuous circular curve of about 120 degrees.  The cowl to fuselage fit on both sides of that model is as close as the straight faces in the picture above.  His workmanship is unsurpassed!
