Jackie and I are getting things packed up for VSC 2016. We will be heading out tomorrow morning for Phoenix to spend the weekend with the grandchildren and my oldest son. On Monday we head south to Tucson for the contest. We will be meeting up with the rest of the west coast gang, John Wright and Larry Renger on Monday. Oh, and yes Jackie made cookies for the contest.

What about missing Doc's dog?
See y'all late Monday, and for the rest of the week. I'm planning to fly Barry Baxters old Clown in OT with his (gasp) Fox .15.
For Classic and Ringmaster OT, my very own first Ringmaster as touted on this forum.
I actually have not had a successful full OT flight on the Clown yet, but have dealt with problems, and think tomorrow will be the DAY! New, adequate size uniflo tank, properly attached, better bonded fuselage nose, figure eight hinges replacing the awful cloth sewn hinges coated with dope. Let's see, wing, OK, fuselage, OK, engine has proven to be adequate, tank, well attached and adequate size, what could possibly be left to go wrong?
I'll tell you tomorrow! mw~

Cookies!!!!!

Well the Clown isn't invited to go with me to VSC!
First, the tail fell off on starting the motor on Friday. Got that fixed and took it out again this morning. Finally got in three flights.
Problem one - it is about four laps shy of the OT pattern, something that lower Nitro fuel and prop fiddling MIGHT cure.
Problem two - there is a hangup somewhere in the controls inside the plane when the controls near the limits of deflection. I had thought the problem was the hinges, but it wasn't.
Anybody want a beat up Clown? Suitable for training and racing, but not stunt competition. Free, less engine, tank and wheels, of course.

Hey Larry,
You know about density altitude, right? Bring the Clown.
Chris...

I am bringing the Clown to give it away as a trainer or racer. The comtrols are too screwed up for contest flying. :'(
-
Oh bummer, I guess I didn't read that part.

I got ready, got here and am done already. :'(

What do mean you're done? You're not leaving are you?
I'm flying in tomorrow. Be there by noon or so.

I will be there in spirit and am already missing it bad. Seems like something gets in the way every year. I tried to tell the Judge that flying model airplanes was more important than being on jury duty, but he did not buy it. What a Grinch. You all have the time of your lives meeting old friends and making new ones. It is where all who are there are kindred spirits. It don't get any better.

Randy must have found a bad spot in the finish. VD~

No rRandy found a hard spot on the asphalt, or a set of lines that did not agree with his arrangments, or,,
yeah,, sadly Randy is done except for moral support,, his Shoestring went the way of most shoestrings, a garbage can, so very sad ???
-
That is sad to hear as he has tried so hard. :(
-
That really sucks bad, probably didn't even get to see if the stab fix paid off.
Oh well, just put the feet up and enjoy then Randy, you're still having a better time than those of us stuck back home. :(

I did read somewhere that Randy said the fix worked, it was flying well,,

Oh no

So sad to see this. Hope the power system survived.
-
On the plus side, soon we should get to see what's up next at the Powellworks.
-
Doc,
Surprisingly even the battery seems to have made it. I'll have to test it all out but it looks like the power train survived. Weird that, but it hit mostly on it's back.
