My recently rebuilt 1974 Bob Hunt Genesis bought the farm while practing for Brodaks. Engine was running perfectly until the vertical 8 when it stopped at about 2oclock on the upper loop. The lines went dead slack and she plummeted into the sod. Post crash inspection revealed that the glow plug had come loose. Don't let the smile in the photo fool you, I finally got the overhead stuff trimmed out and she was a winner for sure. Lost a great ship and one with some C/L history.......PhillySkip

Your not allowed to throw it out ! .
A/. If theres naff all ' crush ' damadge to the foam , theres hope yet . Some of these glues are stronger than they once were .
Properly set level , both surfaces coated , wings first , it might not be to impossable . Did one with EVERY rib in 3 pieces .
The west systems or arildite ( whoover you spelt it ) with a good proportion of microbaloons . Like 50% of saturated .
So you can leave the odd lump , wipe off pre cured , and itll still be strong .
B/. Itll restore to a hanger queen / museum piece . ANYWAY .
C/. We'll be coming for you if you jump on it ! . VD~ S?P
My condolances . But theres hope yet . We'll want detail shots of the breaks next .

Bob I saved the the foam flaps,stab and elevator. The photo doesn't show how badly damaged the inboard side was. The spars had broken. At first Joe Adamusko (who witnessed the event) thought we could fix it,but then agreed with me to trash can it. Next winter I'll build another. I'll tell you this....that sucker could really turn a hard corner........made me look like I knew what I was doing! Your Pal Skip

Not the end of the world.....I've been fooling around with some spark ignition stuff for OTS and the 1/2A deal. As far as "stunters" go I've got stuff to fly. I'm getting much better with my Shark45 and a very cool profile Caprice I built. I'll be there to entertain the masses for sure!

I've been there. You have about .1 seconds to realize what has happened and give it full down, hope it stalls pointed out and you can get line tension back when it takes at least .5 seconds to say WTF. Beautiful plane, one of my favorite designs. Why do they always quit overhead? Even my electric's one and only premature cutoff was overhead. Must be a curse of some kind.

Why didn't you "wind fly" it?
At 2:00 on a V 8 you are flying nearly directly into the wind. Trust me, I have done tons of wind flying in my time and I don't think even Gene Schafer could enter it from that position.

Was tempted to ask you on ' shipping that one out ' , but figure its maybe already had a hard life .
If it was reasonably mint beforehand , we still would be .
Figure its still worth preseveing , over there , as a ' display ' job . Even if its beyond airworthy again.
Seen a few crunched foam ships where the broken areas disintegrated . But that looks like a pretty clean break
rather than trying to join a bag of foam marbles .
has the Stab taken on a bit of miscontent to , or are all the control surfaces etc still fine .
Looks like if the wings rejoined a new fuselage'd make it a pretty good ship .
Theres a few ounces spare to play with before itd get to be a dray .

Charles, there was no saving this plane where the engine stopped running. It was doomed.
Sorry Matt, the trash men own it now. I'm not into building or repairing "display" models. Trust me the picture I posted doesn't tell the whole story. It was a mess.
