Title: Genesis 46
Post by: Bill Little on July 25, 2007, 12:52:49 AM
Ok, what do y'all say as to the power train for the Genesis 46?  (Maybe Mr. Robin Hunt will chime in!)

Also, what is a good, competitive weight for this plane?

TIA!

Hi Bill,

Would a Double Star 54 be a good choice Since the plans call for a S.T.46 and the Double Star is an exact match to the S.T. 46's mounts?

Bill!
When shopping for an engine, d,ont forget to throw weight into the equation.
Course you could shorten the nose, or use an extension ,which I hate. S?P

Yup...the G-46 is about the size of the Saturn...I would stick a PA .51 with a tuna pipe in it...
I never saw a better performing stunt plane than Bob's Saturn when he "discovered" the .51.......

If you want to fly with a muffler instead, you might consider an OS .46 FSR....

Have fun!

Rich,

I have a PA 51 which I took out of my Geo Juno (Saturn) to replace it with a PA 61.  Why?  I dunno! LOL!!  But it IS sweet with the .61.  I can use the muffler or pipe on the PA .51.  I was going to build another USA-1 (and will someday soon!) but I have a beautiful set of foam cores for the Genesis 46.  I *could* also use a PA 61!  And I have a great running T&L ST G-51.......

The only "big" OS engines I have are 40 VFs.......... of course, one of those on a pipe would definitely work!  Would like to stay with a muffler on this one, though.

Jim,  I have zero experience with the Stalkers except for a 46 which was in the first run they made.

Steve, I don't have a DS 54, and would like to use something I have in the drawer.

Charlie Chan,  I am *thinking about that one...... weight of the engines I have vice the ST 46 in the original.

Ward, see above! **)

More ideas?

Hey Bill, don't forget I need to borrow the cores that come out of the wings  ;D

When I get through playing with trailers and get back to airplanes I will stick the borrowed DS 54 in my Skylark and give it a work out. This will tell us how it compairs to a ST 51.

I thought Genesis 46 was where Israel took his family to Egypt to escape the famine in Canaan.  S?P  LL~

I think I would just go with the RE and use either the can muffler attached to the header, or a header/muffler.  Sure "cleans up" the nose of the plane!
