Title: Gear tote's
Post by: Bootlegger on October 18, 2016, 01:07:16 PM

Guy's where are you getting your tote for your model gear. I have a BIG one on wheels that is too big, so I am looking for one like Tower Hobbies used to carry, or something similar, and help will be gratefully appreciated..

Home Depot.  I just use a Homer Box, but Stanley has some with wheels.

I got a couple of electronics tool cases (looks like an oversized brief case) form Harbor Freight. Good if you fly electric particularly.

Home Depot, and I found one that holds a gallon of fuel (rectangular a la Powermaster) perfectly in one end and then I put accesories in plastic containers that go inside. Props and tools all fit in their little cubbies.. Has all kinds of crannies and pouches and zippered goodies. I could not find the model number on line but they have them in the store. I will look tonite and see if mine has a model number. Mine doesn't have wheels but I strap it to a little dollie that I found at Wal-mart.

   Thanks Guy's,
However what I am looking for is one that I can carry in my  hand similar to the one that Hobbico and such used to sell. It has a shelf on one end for  gallon can of fuel plus two to three trays for glo driver props and some tools.

 Again thanks...

The OmniModels website shows a couple of boxes from Hobbico and Great Planes. Not sure if this is the type you are looking for. Ed.

I made my own.  Battery and power panel on one end.   Quart can of fuel on other with center section for tools and other stuff.  Small drawer below that area.

Gil about the only place  to get these are the hobby websites. Check with Andy at Hobby Towne. I think he has them. I bought one several years ago from him.

Hi Gil,

Personally I use an old (1946-8) metal tool box my Dad had. Now days I'd go to a fishing tackle shop and look there. They have all kinds of neat stuff that can be used for our hobby.

Good luck, Jerry

Hi Brother Gil,

Aaron found a nice multilayered tool box on wheels that is not too large and the top shelf comes out for flightline use.  A large
drawer at the bottom and three smaller ones above.  It has been perfect for our needs. :d

Hangar 9 offers a nice little flight box kit at a reasonable price. It's what I've used for years, not too big, not too small, and also has a small drawer. Assemble it yourself, paint it how you wish, add their power panel and battery and you're good to go...

This is pretty much what I use.  Mine is a Hobbico Ultra Tote.  Got it at the hobby shop.  Identical except for the plate in the top section with the holes cut in it for screwdrivers/glow driver/etc, and the Ultra Tote had adjustable arms for holding your plane which I immediately left off.

I built my own wooden box for about 10 bucks worth of wood, about the size of a regular tote. I use a small plastic tool box for hand tools. Neither one weighs too much and fit nicely in your trunk or back seat.

Hey Gil - if you're looking for one like in Wayne's Piston Popper Field pic, I have a used extra like that w/power panel.
It's assembled so takes a big box to ship; postage might be a b****h.
PM if interested.
