G NOBLER PICS.
« on: November 03, 2006, 05:26:13 PM »
After eleven years flying my Mackey Lark, I have decided to build a new classic for the 2007 season. The Lark had swelled to a weight of 52ozs. and the Barker OS 40 was getting a little tired too. (some 2,000+ flights) This is a lasser cut kit from the Moon's in Texas. The kit has very good wood, and all the 'stunt goodies' included in it. The engine of choise is the popular Aero Tiger 36, plastic 6oz tank and with eight coats of clear Brodak, and carbon fiber all thru, with the nose glassed with finishing resin. With only light sanding left to do, before color its weight stands at 36.4ozs. Hope the pictures come thru.

Blessings

Ever notice how some planes are just more pretty before being painted?  ~~> I guess it is because we can see the workmanship in the model. Such as this one. Don't paint it, just add two more coats of clear.  y1 #^
It looks like it just rolled out of the SkunkWorks hangar for a rework, now ready for stealth mode 8) all CF covered !!New secret weapon!! :-X

Whats gonna be your colors?Good job!! f~    ~>

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm not totally sure on the colors yet, but am leaning towards purple and yellow with a touch of red. Will ink panel lines and of course AMA numbers, Gieseke Nobler, and FCM decal. Hope the put the blocking coat on this week. I'd really like for Bob to sign it before the last coats of clear goes on. My projected weight, around 45ozs. More later.

Blessings

Allen, well, do you have any paint on it yet?

You also got me inspired to refinish my old classic that was a copy of my Dad's.  Everything is off and I'm redoing a few things like part of the control system, new tips, lead-out slider and a few other little changes to bring it up to date.  I'll send a pic when it starts getting close.

Take care, Mike

Allen,

You do such beautiful things with 'M' kote!  I'm almost dissapointed your going to paint it!
However, i'm looking forward to your work in the artists medium of paint!

The next step is done. The blocking coat is on and everything looks fine. So a little wet sanding and on goes the base color. (sorry, not red). Yellow I think, then some purple, and red, and gold. I've always liked the color scheme of the Indy Corvette  pace car of 199?. So that is where I'M heading. Of course, "subject to change without notice"........

Okay Allen, 'fess up!  The yellow is a result of mine and Kenny Stevens' influence, right?  Looks like your usual great job.

Will,

Naw - - That's gotta be the influence of Dale Barry's 2001 Nats advanced winner, except there's no checkerboards on the Nobler.  Very nice job Allen!

WARD;  THANKS FOR POSTING THIS PICTURE, I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS  BEFORE. HAD I SEEN IT I MIGHT HAVE COPIED IT'S GRAPHICS. I THINK YOU OUGHT TO GO AHEAD WITH YOUR PLANS FOR THE YELLOW NOBLER. COPIES ARE GOOD, IT'S SO HARD TO BE ORIGINAL NOW DAYS. SO MANY GREAT DESIGNS OVER THE YEARS BY ALL THE GREATS OF MODEL AEROBATICS. GOOD LUCK WITH YOU PROJECT.

Ward,
They say there's no greater compliment than to be copied, so do Bob's scheme by all means!  (If it were me I'd even try to get him to sign it.)  That's a very pretty airplane no matter what color one likes!
and to "copy" Allen, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!! y1 MXAS

Allen,

What did you use for the blocking coat (or primer coat, is this the same thing)?

Are you planning to be at the Ice O Lated?

The blocking coat is Polar Gray.I like it much better than silver. As for the Ice-O-Lated in Feb., Lord willen I'll be there.

Just got back from AMA. Meet up with Roger Wildman and Mike McHenry and got a little flying in. (Dec. in Muncie. What a treat) Got four flights on the G Nobler and it shows lots of promise. I had the CG a little off, but I like what I see.
