I have seen it attributed to many different airlines, even the military.

I had seen this before but don't remember who it was attributed to. It really does not matter as I laughed really hard again. That list is a real hoot. Thanks for posting Matt.

They missed one of the best I had in my A/C. "Farts in cockpit".

Turned out to be a pressurization problem...

So, do civilian aircraft call their radar transponders "IFF"?  Or do the FedEx guys make a habit of shooting down UPS planes?

It's still funny and I think there are a lot more to be added to this list.   Any pilot and ground mechanic could have their versions if this.  Like when I got a ride in plane and the pilot finally stopped, the controller stated the first landing was the best one.

You guys are sharp! This bit is pretty old I saw it years ago to. Now about IFF (identification friend or foe) was in use while I was in the AF in the 50"S I was in radar maintenance. Heavy ground search radar. We used IFF it could Id targets that where friendly military. It also would indicate if AF one was on our screen. That would be the Presidents plane if he was on board. If it was his plane and he was not on board it would be Id as AF2  The president was AF1. all other planes where. Targets or returns that IFF didn't get a proper return from where Enemy or other traffic. They came out with a system called SIFF the S stood for Selective. This system was more elaborate than IFF. Now days they have a system where all aircraft squawk an ID. It is not IFF nor SIFF.

I can't answer your questions.  The whole list is somewhat tongue in cheek that has been posted many times in many places with credit given to many sources.  There is probably some truth and some enhancement as time has gone on.

And the IFF won't work in the OFF position.

I've seen this same list, many years ago, as applied to USAF Transport Squadrons, where flying is more laid back.  Therefore, I suspect this is the fictitious creation of someone with too much spare time

I was in the U. S. Air Force in the1950's and saw some of these back then.
The best one I remember that actually happened.
The Radar Officer in the back seat of a F-89D handed the Enlisted Technician his report on the radar not radiating, could not see any targets.  Tech reached in and turned the radar from standby to radiate.  Targets showed on CRT. RO asked for his report back.  He crossed off his gripe and wrote "Malfunction between left and right earphones in rear cockpit."

I know this one happened as I was the tech,
