Fun day flying with food and friends. Pics.
« on: October 27, 2007, 04:35:33 PM »
Well today we had a little gathering in Collierville Tn. It was kind of an end of the season get together. We thru some burgers on the grill and burned a little fuel. We had a few new guys show and sounds like they will be back with planes in hand. We all got a surprise when Lester Goldsmith showed up. He use to run the best hobby shop in Memphis. I bought all my stuff from him when I was a kid.
We did more eating and talking then flying. Ryan put on a great show with his Bi-Slob, and I put up a few flights with my new used Shoestring that Ty sent by way of Louis. The Shoestring flew like it was on rails. The weather was great. Fun was had by all.

Isn't that what this hobby/sport is all about?  Great friends, weather, airplanes and food.  I  was out at the field today to meet Andy Minor.  Cell phone goes off while I in the horizontal eight.  Got cut off and couldn't see the phone in the bright sun light.  Finally ran out of fuel and grabbed the phone to return the call.  The voice recording said they couldn't make until Sunday morning, which is bad for me unless there is a contest.  I finally got him to answer his cell and he asked where I was at.  I told him I was standing in the middle of the circle.  Then I was told to turn around.  There was Andy, Cary and little Austin.  They flew there F2D planes and the trainer that was built for Austin by grandpa.  I let Andy fly the Bi-Slob, didn't have to ask if he had fun the big smile was answer enough.  They are now members of the Northern Knights R/C Club so they can have a key to the field.  They also now have a place to fly without worrying about getting run off.  Didn't mean to steal your post as I didn't get pictures, but, your pictures tell a good story.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

PS:Got two flights on the Bipe Streak.  It will not do the pattern at a stunt speed.  Had to add 1/2 ounce of weight to the tail to get it to turn.  Need to get more flights on it, jeh

Looks like fun.  I like that food part, it really brings a day of flying together.

Hello,
Say hi to Lester for me ,I have not seen him since back in the 70s.
Yes he could fly well then also ,Combat, Slow Rat and Rat,He was the first person that I made it a goal to beat.
Back in the day the Memphis contest was always enjoyable.
