They have 0.008 x 6 x 12.  There's three sheets sitting on my bench that I just got from Tower.

Eric Rule (RSM) sells tank kits, if that works for you. Alternatively, you might ask at auto body shops for their gallon reducer cans...and they'd probably be happy to see them gone. Or, use your own empty gallon cans. And, of course, you can get what you want from McMaster-Carr. H^^ Steve

Or, use your own empty gallon cans.

My latest set of empty Powermaster fuel cans has some sort of varnish on the inside, not tin-plate.  Sigh.  Once again, technology leaves us behind.  Perhaps I should build a tank out of carbon fiber...

Hmm...  Way back, somebody gave me a roll of .002" copper foil.  I've wondered about making a tank out of that, and cladding it in a few layers of carbon veil or glass cloth and epoxy for rigidity - or even 1/8" balsa, like the Dutch combat fliers do.  Should work...

For tanks I use the .008 thk tin plate from K&S in the 6 x 12 sheets.  A rectangular tank 5.0" long X 2.0" wide X 1.25" high gives 6.93 oz, more than enough for most applications.
Need more, 6.0" long X 1.75" wide X 1.25" high yields 7.27 oz.  Still More?  6.0" long X 2.0" wide X 1.25" high gives 8.31 oz.
If you need a real bathtub you can make the height of that one 1.375" and get 9.14 oz.

You can cover just about any requirement using the 6" wide stock and a little arithmatic.  Or my spread sheet program since I'm lazy.

Brodak has tank stock because Brodak makes custom tanks. They made a great one for me.

I have no idea how thick the stock they use is?

I have olive oil cans.  Need washed first but work fine.  Crown and Kleen Strip cans are tin inside and out last I checked, same with Coleman fuel.  Of course all of these need the paint stripped off before you are ready to solder.

I'd think it's the .008" stock. The next size up is .016" and that's pretty thick and would be tough to form end caps.

Many years ago I bought a roll of .005 phosphor bronze shim stock at a surplus store. It measured 6 In wide and over 3 Ft long.  I have built several tanks and I still have about half of it left.  In a Super Ringmaster I replaced a 2 ounce "Perfect" wedge with a 4 ounce rectangular tank that weighed less.

Someone pinned it to the top of the forum earlier today (I didn't know you could do that if you weren't a moderator).  Robert (I assume) doesn't feel it warrants being so pinned.
