Title: Fuel tank on Ringmaster
Post by: Mark Seibert on September 20, 2022, 03:19:21 PM
What is the best way to mount my 3.5 ounce tank on my Ringmaster? Long ago when I flew CL I made my own tanks with mounting tabs, this one is from Brodak with no tabs.

brodak sells mounting brackets, both side and top mount style.

4 eye screws, 2 top and 2 bottom wide enough for tank then some for adjustment. A couple of pieces of thin double sided tape on the back of the tank to keep it in one place, then held on with rubber bands. Easy to adjust and change tanks.
I mount plastic clunk tanks set up uniflow on most of my models now. ( But take em off when you hang up your model, otherwise the clunk builds memory and wont clunk next time!- ask me!)

     Good advice.

All those years of Fox 35/Ringmaster/Buster problems I attributed to, 'a worn Fox' have now been remedied with the above setup. Set the uniflow line midway between the clunk and the front of the tank.

My latest setup is a round Sullivan 2 oz tank on a Fox/Ringmaster for the Fly-A-Thon. That plane and engine always quit mid flight with a Fox profile tank. I'm getting flights to an empty tank now.
