That's great Sean!  Uhhhh however unless they've moved Ft Bragg in the past 40 years or so it's in North Carolina!  LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

I was there in 1962 and '63 for SF Training!  Great big "Sandy Place"  The Gate town is still Fayetteville NC...

You'll like it there I'm sure!  They used to have a great Hobby shop and model building facility!  They also had a CL Club that held contests and a bunch of combat guys!  Can't speak for today of course!

Best of luck and thanks for what you're doing!

Sean,

You will like the area, close to the beach, close to the mountains , the closest flying site is in Winston Salem , not much more to Huntersville . Look in the pampa directory for flyers close by, Bill Little, john rakes, Everette shoemaker , bill Mandakis , are a couple closer than me .

Joe Nall, Brodak , king Orange , huntersville. All a short day trip away. huntersville  has early May contest , then October contest ,

pm me when you get to town , we will meet at the field .

Sean...I guess you can change your location in your profile anytime now! I'm kinda surprised that you didn't change that within the first hour back in Texas.  ;) Steve

There is a good LHS in Fayetteville, Hayes Hobby Hanger.  Family run, second generation, and the son flys CL.

Nice folks, as close as you can get these days to,an old timey hobby shop.  Tell them you fly CL, they keep some stuff behind the counter and upstairs out of view.  I bought the last tube of Ambroid i could find over the counter there as well as some silkspan.

Hi Sean,

I live just on the other side of the drop zones and have been in the area since 1963.  Welcome to the Sandhills of NC!   BTW: the highest temp recorded in NC has been in Fayetteville.

I have been going to Hayes Hobby House since 1963 and Gentry Hayes is still there daily.  Him and his wife do make it an "old time" family hobby shop.  Their son Alan is a PAMPA member and he tries to keep a good bit of C/L materials in stock.  Don't know much about the base hobby shop anymore, and I don't know what they have done with the area where the old C/L club flew.....

I hope to get to see you once you have settled in and I think you will enjoy your stay!!
