After the destruction of the short lived Fronkensteen 3, I am ready to do it again. Presenting the Fronkensteen 4. The parts were mostly collected from the vendors at the King Orange Internationals. The wing is supposed to be from a Super Chipmunk, the Fuselage is from an ARF Cardinal. The tail group is unknown. It could be called the KOIsteen, but that might be a little too weird, even for me. All remaining parts will either be scrounged or improvised.

Tail also looks Cardinal?? It'll probably fly great.

Stab elevator definitely look like cardinal, and makes sense since there was a fuse to match. Wing looks good, knock out a couple different style rudders out of cardboard until one says " YEAH" and go to town. LA .46 power, or maybe an ST.51 for current ( almost anyway) engines. Or .45 size classic loop scavenged snarling away.

I think this one looks way too nice to be of Fronkensteen. Maybe an adopted child, or the beautiful bride! Looks like it should be a good airplane.

I test flew this thing again today. It flies great, but a little fast. In the air, it looks like a large dart. It looks fast. I need to slow it down and try it again. Sometimes when you slow them down, problems begin to show up. This happens to be the best looking of the Fronkensteen series. I hope it stays that way.

Sure enough, I got a slow flight and lost tension, and put it in again. It needs more tip weight. Also, the Ultracote paint I used is melting off the entire plane. I am now stripping the plane and have replaced the weak rudder I had on it. I have also reworked the flimsy gear mount of the ARF Cardinal fuselage.

What length line are you using? Planes have a happy medium for air speed when flying.

.015" X 60'. I use this on most everything.

If you have room, try longer lines. Need to keep air speed up on some planes. Used to have an Excaliber that I could fly slow enough that people thought it would fall out of the air. Only time I would speed it up was when wind was blowing.

Repairs are finished. Power is now an LA 46 with large venturi. I will most likely need to slow it down some.

You need a recycled logo on your wing. Nice muffler, can't say I've ever dumpster dived for model parts...

The wing cost me $15 and the fuselage $15 and the stab/elevator $5 at the KOI. The rest came from my junk pile. Except the gear and flaps. I had to buy them retail.

What is the prop in the picture? It looks like a high-pitch speed prop. Is that what you were flying with?

That's one of my favorites, the Taipan 11-5.

This thing now has an OS LA 46, 25 venturi, Thunder Tiger 11-4.5 prop. Sealing the flap hinge line is the next trick.

I sealed the hinge line with common Magic tape. Talk about UGLY!

I finally found some good hinge sealing tape. I'm also using the XOAR 12-4 prop. Last time out, I planted it Yard Dart style in soft ground. Broken prop.

I will use whatever works. Total cost of Fronkensteen 4 bare airframe. is around $50.

Bride of Fronkensteen sounds good. If I assemble a slightly smaller model, that is a distinct possibility.
