Fronkensteen 3 Lives
« on: May 22, 2010, 06:55:51 PM »
The plane to be known as Fronkensteen 3 is in final assembly. It uses the wing from 2, and the third of 3 custom profile fuselages I have put together. The landing gear is longer and placed forward of 2 for better landings. The rudder is a section of one from an R/C wreck.

Um...yeah, I kind of agree with Clint. At least it will have a real motor. I've got an Enya .29 with a bent crankshaft that looks like it will fit perfectly. ;D

Phil,  I am going to have to meet you sometime.  Can't imagine what you would do in my stash of wrecked planes.  I must say it is different. H^^

That makes my SkyRingStreak look boring in comparison.
The presentation on a trash can is so subtle, some kind of message there I think!

I am pretty good at making piles of wrecked planes- and your welcome to come browse through them any time. Of course, 2 wrecks are in Portland, OR and 1 is in New Mexico. I m headed to Phoenix AZ and hopefully won't add my Twister to the list of shattered planes.

Now let's see, I've got a perfectly good outboard Banshee wing that I dug out of the dumpster at the Sig contest a few years back, and a complete back half of my old Skyray, hmm...

You could clone the good wingtip and make a wing for a 19 powered model.

I finally applied the first base coat. Now I need to find a way to make paint stick to monokote.

Hey Phil,
I hear you can take a scuff pad and scuff up the monokote then it is ready to paint.

Looks really bad after the first coat of color. I have 3 days of sanding to do. I dug out the spray gun. Now if I could only remember the proper pressure to use on the Chinese touch-up gun.

I think I have a major problem. When I bought the paint for Fronkensteen, I must not have been paying attention. The Rustoleum I bought turned out to be water based latex paint. This stuff can't be fuel resistant. Would it work if I put a coat of clear regular polyurethane over it?

Should work okay as it is not oil based.  Make sure the paint has had a couple of days to cure/set.  My opinion, not experience. H^^

Well, it's not as ugly as a Cardinal.  LL~  OBTW, the rules state that polyurethane over latex will remain sticky and never harden. Maybe too late?  H^^ Steve

If you let the latex dry for 3 days, the poly will harden fine. Mine did.

Did you ever hear that song by Johnny Cash about a guy who built a car from pieces he snuck out of the factory every day, "It's a '49,'50,'51,'52------automobile". Put the plane parts in the song and you've got somethin'! Gotta "A" for effort from me Garf!----"dead stik"  #^ ;D ;)

It is different and I know it will fly as it is too homely not too.  Caddilac Automobile was the song that Mr Cash made famous.  I always wanted to sing like him.  Remember "Get Rythem" about the shoe shine boy, was my favorite.

LA46 replaced by the Brodak 40, light muffler installed, controls readjusted. It should be better this time.
