    Guy's where do you get frisket paper, and is it low tack?  I need to mask a larger area, and am looking for suggestions as to what to use, and where to get it.   Thanks for  your suggestions...

I got some from Dixie Art Supply in NOLA, and they do mail orders.  But you should be able to find some at your local art supply store in Baton Rouge.  You have to be careful if spraying dope (lacquer thinner) on this stuff.  If you hit it first with a wet coat the edges will curl up.  Use a couple of light mist coats to start.

I have been using som stuff called,  "Press-N-Seal".   It's found in the grocery stores with the other food wrap.  Only disadvantage is, put it down right the first time as it wont stick again if you lift it up(sometimes it might go back down).

Have you tried using shelve liner paper? Works very well, when you stick it to your project, only peel off at small area to stick to your project, seals well, does a great job and ya can get it at the dollar store.

I got mine at Michael's Arts n Crafts.

Frisket film is great stuff, but solvent base paints have to be sprayed on nearly dry or they will attack the adhesive and let the film lift.  I used it with Model Master enamels on my Jenny to do the insignia, but very carefully.  It was excellent for tracing out the masks for the lettering.

Mine is Grafix P/N KLM912-12N Low Tack, 12 9x12 sheets in a package.  Lots of places on line that carry it.

They stock Frisket and other air brush stuff at The Prop Shop in Centerline.  The Prop Shop does phone and internet orders. 

Frisket is a purpose-built product for spray paint masking.  It's clear, so you can see the pattern underneath when you cut the stencil.  Comes of clean.  It comes in 8.5 x 11 sheets and also rolls. 

One of my techniques is to use 3M 77 to glue the pattern to the backing, then the pattern and backing peal off as one and there's no need for pins or staples.

I tried shelf liner on a scale P51.

Never could get the wrinkles out, plane weighed 23 lbs., and the pattern was definitely not WWII!
