Here is our update before bed.
We woke up and Ryan looked out our hotel window and said WOW we are in the clouds!
We got some rain this morning so we had a delay, but then God smiled down on us and the sun came out and the rain held off all day.
After a major feast we broke out the real mens planes and Junk Yard Wars started flying. I can tell you that Joe Gilbert and Mike Donaven raised the bar for everyone. They kicked some butt with there Red Junk plane. Joe even layed down on his back and flew over head 8's for ever!
We had a major blasted today again!!! Got to put a lot more faces with names and handles.
Here are a few photos.
If you want the good action shots you have to wait on you know who. (Elwyn aka"Mr. PhotoMat")

Here's a few pics. The light was horrible for the first few flights in P A and the evening Junk Yard Wars flights so some shots are bit grainy

That guy with the big smile and red plane looks happy! Wonderful! Any information on the P-38 please? Thanks #^

Thanks for the pics!
Whose P-38 Lightning and what size are the Saito's on it? Any other info on it would be great too.
Thanks!

WB,
Not sure who's P-38 that was. I was in line to get some grub and it was sitting just off the drive way. Maybe someone will see this and have a your answer.

Wayne,
I thought I saw Henry Werner from VirginiaHobbySport walking around with that one when I pulled out on Thursday. Maybe Clayton will fill us in on some of the details.

The P-38 does belong to Henry Werner. He took second place with it in Fun Scale.
It is powered with two Saito .40s and uses electronic controls through insulated lines.

It does indeed belong to Henry.
I set up the engines for him and we did one test flight the night before - it ran flawlessly.
Besides parallel servos for the throttles, it also incorporates an electromechanical nose wheel brake.
The engine setup was a bit tricky in that they must both idle at a reasonably close speed and be able to shut down on command.

I had a great time at Brodaks! George Marenka took first with his zero a fellow club mate from SLOW Club. My P-38 has seven foot wingspan and first flew with two Fox 35's a few years ago but turns out I had sent two boys to do mens work so I converted to Saito's to move the 8.5 pound plane. I also converted to 5 channel electronic control. I ran out of time so I worked out throttles and brake to compete and I will finish the rest over this winter and install bomb and tank drop which I pre wired. Have only flown about ten times this season but she has good lap time 5.1 seconds and I think it will pull loop just fine if I am not carrying tank drops.
