Fred Kocher
« on: July 18, 2018, 06:20:22 PM »
Fred Kocher passed away peacefully this morning just after midnight.  He was involved with control line airplanes since his childhood in the 40's.

He was never a great builder.  I often had to remind him that he was building an airplane and not a tank.  He always wanted to re-enforce everything.

He was never a great flyer.  He competed in the Beginner category for years.  He only needed to learn the 4 leaf clover to complete the pattern when he was struck with a sever case of shingles on the right side of his face.  It affected his vision in the right eye and his equilibrium in his ear.  He never flew again after that.

He was a great lover of model airplanes and the people who flew them.  He attended many of the contests in District 8 and took thousands of photos at the contests.  Many appeared on this forum and in Stunt News.

He was my lifelong flying buddy and I will miss him terribly.

Services will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home at the Marshall St chapel on Saturday at 10:00.  Visitation will be held at the same chapel on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00.

Steve.

Steve,

I am so sorry to hear that.  I always liked Fred; he was a very kind soul.  I enjoyed flying with him and just being around him.

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Steve,
I'm very sorry to hear of Fred's passing.
Fred was always happy to take action pictures of the contests as well as just plain plane shots.
I always appreciated Fred's inputs.
Very sorry for the loss.
Frank

You and your dad seemed to always be "there," cameras in hand. I always look forward to the pictures that are taken to be posted, hoping to see one of my ship. He will be missed. I hope that you continue attending and photographing. Peace

Hi Steve:

Many of us on this forum have lost our dads in recent years. All of us who have lost moms and dads know just exactly how you are feeling at this time. Please know that we are all thinking of you and praying for you and your family. Nothing can replace your dad, but nothing can replace your memories of the times you had together either. May he rest in God's good peace eternally.

Sad to hear of your loss.  Don't remember if we have ever met but most of what is said how can I repeat.  Just remember the good times.  I lost my Dad when I was 20 years old and he supported me as much as possible. :(

   Steve,
Kathleen and I are so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. You and your great family are in our prayers. You and your Dad, or one or the other were always at practically all DVIII CONTESTS taking hundreds of pics. Mr. Fred was such a nice gentleman, and his pics as well as yours  Steve,  were outstanding. I will surely miss him, but never forget him.
God Bless you and your family with peace and grace,
                    Doug and Kathleen
