frank carlisle's down
« on: February 11, 2008, 08:19:51 PM »
Just thought I would drop a note, Frank Carlisle is in the hospital with a pretty nasty case of pneumonia. Docs are hoping he will be outa there by Wen (could you stand Frank 24 hours a day any longer than that?). But if anyone just wants to drop him a harassment not for when he is back I'm sure he'd appreciate it. Also any stray prayers layin around would probably be a help.

Bob,
Thanks for the heads up! (Wow, responded before I saw Robert's response. I guess the "heads up" is a carryover term from our good old TomCat days).  H^^

I'm home from the hospital guys. Thank you all very much for your kind words and thoughts.
It looks like there are going to be weeks of recovery time before I am fit again. But the outlook is really good and I should come out of this in really good shape.
The ekg and tests that have been run have me "healthy as a horse". My heart and the rest of the stuff in me is all in good (nearly NIB) shape.
I've quit smoking ( one week now).
I've made a couple trips to the basement to see about getting something done on the new plane but by the time I get to the work table I've used up my energy.

Don't worry about me....I'm taking care of myself and will be ready to play at the circle in no time. y1

Frank, Pay attention to your health. Pnuemonia is nasty at our ages. I went through a serious bout several years ago, similar to yours, I was also hospitalized. It took a while to get my stregnth back up to par, and for several years afterwards, whenever I caught the flu, the pnuemonia would come back. It would take a megadose of antibiotics, and a couple of weeks, to get me over it.

Last year I got the Pnuemonia shot from the VA. This was the first year I did not get a relapse on the pnuemonia, so far this winter no problems either.

Consider it when your health is better. Flu shots too.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery,

John Miller

Hi, Frank! Glad you're outa there...I had pneumonia a month ago, left with a case of COPD, although a 'mild case'. On oxygen at night while I sleep, but just for 30 days. I think it was the Balsa Dust!

COPD for me too Mike. Chronic Bronchitis. Plus a touch of emphyzema for good measure. No oxygen. But the script included an inhaler, steroids and anti-biotics. I coulda bought a tank fed respirator for the cost of the script.
I think it was the Balsa Dust too. From now I'm working with a mask.

HI Frank,

Glad you're at home.  Follow the Doctor's orders and get yourself back in shape!  Join a gym if you can, and GO TO IT!  Don't just sit back and do nothing once you are fully back on your feet. ;D

>>Frank on Steroids???<<

Hey, Frank, did you get them from Brian MacNamee?

I went to the Doc today. Viral pneumonia. Great. 3 people in my office have it. Nice of them to spread it around. So I got prescribed prednisone and erythromycin. Hopefully, I'll be better by the weekend ... or cough up a lung, whichever comes first.

Guys,

By all means, get that pneumonia shot. In all fairness, I got mine when I went to get a flu shot and the doctor noticed that I had not received one. If I remember correctly, the shot is good for 10 years and, after the second one, you don't need another (perhaps because of my life expectancy?  ;D )

Great to hear your both on the "mend".  I second George's comment, do get the pneumonia shot.

Late last year I had what amounted to the same thing Randy has been diagnosed with, mind caused by sanding primer in a very cold area. The "doc", sold me on the pneumonia shot.    So far so good!!!!  Hey!...got to stay healthy to work on the new projects.  RIGHT. y1

Hmmmmm..... had plain old Pneumonia when I was 16, but I've had two cases of what the Dr. called *walking pneumonia* over the last ten, or so, years.  Too old to keep going when I get like that now! LL~ LL~ LL~
