We did a club buy Direct from Fox a couple years ago and got a good deal. Can't remember how many we had to buy, whatever a carton was, maybe 10 cards of 12 each or 12 of 10? If you can get a group buy going...

Is the problem with the gold ones the same as before - some of them run fine and a lot of them won't work at all? Once you found a good one it was good and lasted a long time, but if it ever did quit, you would have to spend half a day finding a good replacement.

Mostly what I see at our field is they are too cold. Pull the power off and the engine goes really rich, like a worn out Thunderbolt. Once in a while someone will put one in that seems OK but it's rare. We pretty well have the regulars weened off the gold plugs in favor of the new one but our supply from the club buy has ran out.

That is a little different from before, but then again I was running Fox plugs in Foxes and later ST46s and never got to the modern era with mine, so it may have been the same story.
If the new type has better quality control I would consider using them, if nothing else because the Thunderbolts have gone from 79 cents a piece to something like $8.

Maybe its just me, but I feel like the idle bar t bolts have gotten colder in the last year or so. About the only thing that stays hot in my PA is the tbolt big bore plug. 8 dollar plugs add up when you only get 20 flights a plug.

I noticed on www.SMTDISTRIBUTING.com that they had Merlin glowplugs for under $5, and also Klass Kote paints.
They're the new Nova Rossi importer...saw their ad in MA, and was really curious about the "R.61 Speed". The picture shows it with a venturi, but it's only rated for 20,500 rpm. Hardly a speed engine. :( Steve
