Fox 59 Stunt gone crazy
« on: December 07, 2017, 04:25:51 PM »
Hello
I know a lot of people do not like Fox engines but I am a fan but was very still surprised to see how this late model Fox 59 Stunt (last of them from the early 70's I think) has done on Ebay with biding now over 300 and a day to go!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Fox-59-Stunt-model-airplane-engine-vintage-control-line-59-motor-glow-10cc/332469661613?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

or item 332469661613

No I do not have the money to bid that much or have an interest in it

Regards Gerald
PS love that box art they had back in the 60's

No mounting marks on the lugs, and no exhaust stains visible. Probably unused, and not an unreasonable price if you want to build a truly authentic OT model.

BTW, definitely NOT my thing!  VD~
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

They were marketed as the Fox Falcon. I had an earlier version of it from the 60's that I got for a swap of a brand new Cox TD049. I was a kid that wanted a 60 and then soon realized that He got the gold mine and I got the shaft. It wasn't pretty .it drank fuel, spewed a lot of it out the exhaust and was obnoxiously loud. I dumped it for something else.

Hello
The Falcon was a radio engine with some changes, the biggest visual one was moving the lugs onto the crankshaft centre line and mounts for the provision of a muffler. (see my pics for differences) The Falcon was an alloy piston twin ring set up unlike the early 59 stunt lapped iron piston engine. Note the latter 59 stunts with the bridge under the exhaust are the better ringed variety and much more sought after like the one in the auction .
Problem I see with using a lot of early engines now is the balance between a muffler , noise and overheating which takes a bit of work to figure but I like the challenge   ;)

Hello
Matt  Nice looking and a  fitting model for a Fox 59 , thought of something similar with an up sized Airsail Showman but Phil Smith beat me to it with  an up size version and OS FP

Jerry  They sure did fight it out in the end with a final figure of $425 wow   n~  , thought that would get a long shaft 59 but nice to know people value them.   :o

Gee, I have two, an early lapped one and a later ringed one. They both run great but are loud. Not as loud as an Anderson Spitfire on gasoline though. I have one in a Viking an it fly's great.

Hello Jim

Nearly put a Fox 59 in my Viking that is now sort of ready for covering but wanted to try my first spark ignition equipped plane so used a similar engine in many ways an Atwood Champion
