Hi. I have recently acquired an old Carl Goldberg Shoestring with a Fox 35 engine attached. Unfortunately the needle was not there, and am in the works of getting a replacement, but have the following question after some research. First a little background on the set-up. The plane was built around 1975, and engine was around the same time. It was flown till the late 1970's, maybe 1980 he said. Just to help in id the year of the engine. It had not been flown since.
Now the question. From my reading here and online, it *should* have the original needle with the flat ground on the end. I was offered a Fox needle part #01314, which is the newer fully tapered needle. Will the needle work in my engine, or do I need an original needle with the 'flat' on it for it to run? Thank you. Hopefully the picture may be able to help ID the engine.
