Pattern Points
« on: May 03, 2011, 03:56:49 PM »
I was under the impression that the Pattern Points bonus (25) had been eliminated two years ago because of an AMA rules change.  Today I was reviewing the CL rules published on the AMA website and I found that Pattern points are still included.  Was I being delusional (what's new) in thinking they had been eliminated or did AMA do a reversal in the past year?

You're not nuts. Pattern points were eliminated, but a new rule proposal this year has reinstated them.

I submitted a successful proposal to reinstate them, largely because the FAI-style rule was too ambiguous about what maneuver to give a "0" to when they were out of sequence, and the lack of any distinction about what happened during a maneuver and what happened between maneuvers.

Agreed. It was a total PITA, especially judging Beginner and Intermediate.

Where were you hiding during the last rules cycle?   A few people did a lot of work to get the word out on all the proposals on the initial vote and then again on the final vote.  Results were even published in MA and on the AMA  site. H^^
