Fox 29x Needle Bearing Special
« on: October 11, 2006, 08:03:59 AM »
I have one that I bought brand new when I was in high school and never started it.  I know this a high speed engine but I would like to know if anyone has experience with using this engine on a stunter.

I would say it would take some work, especially if it has the pressure tap in the back plate.  They were meant for all out combat at that period of time.  Also check to see if there is a restrictor in the intake.  Might have to add some head shims.  But, all in all I would say the timing would not be set up right for stunt work.  DOC Holliday

I forgot to mention that it does not have the pressure tap in the backplate.  It does have a square intake with an insert in the venturi.  I never have run this one so I don't know what it is like.  I bought it in the early 80's.  The price tag says $16.00.  I am thinking of putting it on a Brodak Bearcat or Cosmic Wind racer.

It ill work if you run it in the soft to mediun 2 cycle needle seting (It won't 4-2-4 break) and use a low pitch prop .
%% nitro and 24 or more % castor oil.
It will probably take 4 to 5 oz of fuel o do the pattern.  It MUST have a restrictor I would think. you can make a good one from a short piece of motor mount material
