There are four new Brodak kits that will be available soon. They are the La-5, Magician, Hellcat and the Goldberg Lil Jumping Bean. John has completed the prototypes and the guys have started laser cutting the wood. I've attached pics of the Magician and Hellcat. I think pics of the La-5 will be in CLW. There is still a lot of work to be done so they won't be available for another month or so.

very cool.....what does the LA-5 look like???? never heard of it before.
-
The La-5 is a WWII Russion fighter. Google it on the web and you will get some pretty good pics.

It looks like the Hellcat is the same 48" wing as some of the other Brodak warbirds, is it?
It's great to see more new kits becoming available, bring 'em on! y1

Another GREAT place to reference aircraft is airliners.net. Go to the photo search section and put in your selection and you'll see many photos of about any aircraft you can think of. It's great for paint scheme ideas or many other things. You could literally spend hours on the site.
I just looked up the LA-5 there, and it looks basically like a radial engined LAGG-3, similar the one Brodak already produces. ;D

I don't think the original Magician had that many ribs, or am I seeing something that is not there.

What ever happened to the Mo-Best that was supposed to be in production? DOC Holliday

Does the hellcat have the same airfoil as the P-40 ? Did Pat Johnston Design it?
The P-40 Warhawk flies excellent! the Hellcat sounds similar in area etc. W Hicks

The original had half ribs along the LE. Note that this is the original version and is smaller than the Midwest kit.

I'll have to check on the Mobest and get back to you.
The Hellcat was designed by Harry Crespo who is a member of John's local club. The airfoil is very similar to the warbird series.
Steve is right. This original version of the Magician has half ribs.
We have two Pat Johnson designs on the drawing board. The Spitfire Mk16 and the Corsair(yes with the gull wing)
-
The Corsair should be a real winner. A lot of appeal to that plane. Never had one as a stunter but did build 2 of the Sterling scale F4U's

Good question to ask Larry C. over on UHP
I believe the last I heard it has been scheduled for a Christmas 2006 release.
Not sure if it's going to be a kit or an ARF

I believe the last time I ping'd Larry C on the Mo'Best it was to come out as an ARF/ARC.... No lazer kit.... :'(
-
Doc,
The intent is to have the Mobest produced as an ARF. It is currently on hold with no estimate on when it will be available.

Hi Sam, Great looking new planes! I'll probablly have to have one of each! When will the Yak and Mustang be ready for sale? They too should sell like gas at$.259 as well!
-
Phil,
Just finished the Mustang plans this week. John has the Yak prototype about half finished. I'd guess the Yak in 2-3 months and the Mustang probably a month or so later. Also have the Spitfire by Randy Johnson in the mix as well.
Sam

Mustang????? Which mustang is that going to be?
Is the corsair full fuse? and the spitfire???
just when I thought I had enough kits.....

All of these are profile. The Mustang is the oriignal designed for PDQ and later purchased by Sterling. It's old time legal. The Spitfire and Corsair are new designs by Pat Johnson.

oh well....if they are profile then I wont buy them.....the wife will be happy.. HA
