Yes you stated your position, one many people have. If you look through the archives of SStunt you will see I once agreed with the idea of removing the BOM and I believed it so much I signed the rules change proposal someone submitted as a supporter of it. I put my NAME on it. I am very glad that didn't go through. VERY GLAD. You will also note I also have had a more hardline stance like you have in the past as well, again when I wrote about it online in a forum I put my NAME on it. There have been proposals in the past to make it more strict like you would like and bring back some of the more traditional roots of building. Those who wrote them signed them as well. They didn't pass. The EVENT goes the way we want it too as members of the AMA who have the right to make rules proposals for any event we see fit. We will be required to sign the proposal and put our AMA number on there as well. I am sure you can see where this is going.
THIS IS NOT RCG. You want RCG rules and regs then by all means go to RCG and write away to your hearts content.
It's not who you are or what you have done that matters at all, people just like to put a name with the posts. In person I wouldn't just walk up to someone on the street I had no clue who they were and tell them they need to stop lying about the planes they build. I would at least like to know who they are. But when someone comes on here and intentionally wont use their name and then put people down and call others liars it's just very weak and will get a very strong negative response. It will always be perceived as someone just throwing gas on the fire.
If you are who you say you are about having been around this event for a long time then you know darn well BOM discussions are hot topics and will always be heated and get heated very quickly. You also know you should choose your words wisely as to actually get a discussion and not just bomb throwing. So when you said We need to stop lying about building our planes and what we have now is weak you insulted some of my very close friends right to their faces and you know you did because they have their names and information right there for you to see yet you hide behind your keyboard just like most trolls. You want to be taken seriously then be serious yourself. Oh by the way you called names first, ignorant was one of the terms I saw. Don't delete your posts either. You say something, then say and stand by it. Your name is not on there so why the heck do you care.

Ketoman, there have always been people saying one thing or another about who built what. All I can do is worry about what I do with my plane. If I actually think someone is claiming BOM when they are not the builder then I have the option to protest it under the current rules. The burden of proof is on me as well and I have to throw in 50 bones in there as well and being a CL guy that makes me cheap so its gonna be hard to do. Plus complaining about it on a forum is so much easier...
We need to be clear about this, as most people know Event 322 is the ONLY CLPA event that requires you to be the BOM to actually enter the contest. That is prior to apperance points etc. You cant borrow a plane and enter, or get an ARF and enter. Once you sign the enty form you are stating that you have followed the rules and you are man enough to sign off on it, using your actual name.
If the man said he uses wings and tail pieces and the rules allow it then he followed the rules as they are now stated. See how that works? It is actually a pretty simple concept.
Several years ago several came prefabbed planes they painted themselves and did enter the nats event 322. This was under the older form of the BOM which was alot more vague. The guys signed off on the form and entered. They flew and did their thing. No one protested. Not long after that, after alot of hard work and discusion from some of my closest friends, the updated BOM was passed into the AMA RB. Now those planes are no longer eligible. Those who used them know it and they didnt bring those planes back again. That's how it works. We use the honor system and those take having fun in this hobby serious and want to compete and win on the up and it seems to work so far.
If you would lilke a more strict rule about how the BOM should be interpreted and practiced then by all means please write it up and submit it for initial review. But you need to know one thing....you will have to use your name on the form and your AMA number.

I am not going to try speak for Paul he uses his name and can speak for himself but I would like to take a crack at this one.
Ketoguy, you are defining the BOM in your own view as X, while the AMA RB states that at this point in the time space continuim the rule is Y. Paul does not have to abide by your idea or stated version of what the BOM is, he only needs to concern himself with what the AMA RB says the BOM is.
Again, if you would like US to abide by Ketoboy's version of the BOM then you need to submit it to the AMA for a change and sign your diet name on the line...

This is the crux of the whole problem here. We have rules we are competing with, and you disagree with those rules. That is unfortunate, but we have rules to compete with and you have only OPINIONS.
Your entire position is that our rules are wrong. Well, maybe wrong for you, but not us.
We are satisfied with what we have. If you want different, you can (as has been suggested already) submit a rules proposal to change them ( which I think you know what will happen), or create your OWN event and have a competition with those rules. It would be interesting to see your rules, and how that competition went.
For now, get over the fact that our rules are what they are.

Got to get started on my new design for next year. But first, some flight tests to collect some data.
And, sorry to disappoint you, but I design my planes myself, draw my plans myself, build them myself, and fly them myself.
I do have only 4 planes in my collection that are foam wings. Oh gee, I bought several of those foam wings. That's 4 out of 50 ish stunters. You can breathe now, the B-17's were all built up. Wow, that's a relief. The P-51's (of which there were 3) were all built up from MY plans, and the 2 recent P-47's were also built up by me from my plans. There seems to be a trend here.
