Formula S "Corrected Plans"
« on: April 06, 2007, 05:13:19 PM »
I was just in contact with Bob Hunt (Robin's View Productions) about the Formula S plans which Jim Kostecky had written/drawn directly on to bring them into what his actual plane was.  They are signed by Jim before his untimely passing.  I previously had a set of these, but no longer.

There were corrections in the LG length and the rear section of the fuselage (top view) in particular.  The LG length is a great correction since as published they were kinda short!  This is to verify for Classic Stunt that the actual plane "did" have some differences.   I suspect that this will not affect any planes built to the published plans, just make certain "differences" that were on the original "legal" with out loss of Fidelity.

Bob has agreed to make these available since he has a set, just contact him through the Vendor's Corner selection (Robin's View)!

I would have listed this in the Classifieds, but I am not providing them.  I'm  passing along the word that they are available!  (and if you know Bob, his service is beyond outstanding! y1 )

Bill..
That is such great news....What a beautiful model that he flew at the 68 nats...That red and black was sooooooooo dramatic against that crisp blue Kansas sky!

Hi Bob,

In my excitement, I forgot to include the "permission" section from FM.  I apologise!  I have always been aware of the fact that you will "do things right"

Bob,

I am glad to hear that you are building Jim's "Formula S".

With regard to the the "Spirit of America" I was very privleged that Jim asked me if wanted to fly it after the St Louis team trials in '69. I was a judge that year.

The airplane was very easy to fly, and felt very close to my own "Clipper". I immediately felt at home with the airplane.

Jim, in his typical kind way, commented that "Gee, the judge flew it better than I did". Of course it wasn't true, but it was great for my ego, and pointed out how great a guy Jim was.

Shortly before his untimely death, Jim had commented that he did not have a good picture of the "Spirit of America", so I had a 8 x 10 copy made for him of a slide that I had taken back in '69.

If I had accurate plans of the "Spirit" it would be on my short list of airplanes. to build.
