   The kits were produced by Custom Model Products out of Texas, I believe? Might have the company name wrong or incomplete. Not in production for a long time. I'll bet there are some on shelves out there. I have one but want to keep it. Would be a good bet Bob Hunt has cores and maybe plans for it. I don't think it was ever published in the magazines. It was a popular design and many were built, used to see them all the time.

You can get a short kit from Walter Umland

You can get plans and scratch build from Steve Moon here;

  Dan, I replied but it got lost in cyber space some where, so here it is again, didn't Walt Umland also put out a kit of the Forerunner? I sent him an inquiry in that direction ans we'll go from there, again thanks for the advice...

Funny this thread popped up when it did.  I scratch built a Tom Farmer Forerunner 14 years ago but instead of using a foam wing, I built a built up wing.  I have been thinking about building another one but have been unable to find the plans.  I would be glad to pay for a set of plans if anyone has one or could make a copy of it.

Thank you

Mike

If you are looking for something just a bit more homely, sporting a plain but full body, and a carrying a reputation as an enthusiastic, very good, ... dancer... ;)
...you can use the ForeRunner parts and build an Das Ugly Stunter.  Designed by Matt Neumann around the Forerunner wing and kitted/short kitted by Walter Umland.

(Also, as an inline design, it will help you look hip around all the cool kids these days.  which is nice..)

Didn't the kit have, besides a foam wing, a 1/2" plywood nose? Resembled a doubler, but as all ply?
And an inboard engine?

   I know Walter was dealing with some gall bladder issues and he has popped in here a time or two since then, but does anyone know if he is back up and producing again? I wouldn't mind having a set of plans for the built up wing along with some ribs. Walter needs to live to be 120 so he can stay ahead of all our wants!!! WE LOVE YOU WALTER! y1 y1

     George; The description for the plans mentions foam, which would be the wings. I have a kit already with foam wings. I imagine the Moon plan is the same as the kit plan.

   Hi Steve;
    The question is, are they plans for a foam or built up wing?  I would be nice to show each rib, I hate stack sanding!

Hey Dan, if it was a foam wing version I would do it like Bobby's lot foam set up. D>K

Oh my! My bad. I looked at Steve Moons site and Walter Umland's but managed to remember only Steve's site. Your comment challenged me to look again. Well wouldn't you know, brain fart.  Walter shows the plans with the rib location. Steve's are in fact foam!!!  mw~

Here's Walter's site for anyone following this thread:  http://www.builtrightflyright.com/2019/ShortKits/Forerunner2017.htm

The plans are for the foam wing version, as this
was how Tom originally designed the plane.
